Wonder what we do at the Atlanta Historical Society? One of the most important projects is preserving the historical cemetery. We have purchased several of the headstones 🪦 and fixed fences.

Thanks to Kerry Moosman we know who a lot of the people who have been buried here. He has been able to research and document the history of those resting here.

The historic areas of Atlanta are what make it so special.

There is no doubt that natural beauty surrounds the town of Atlanta, but what makes the town unique is the historical preservation. So often history is lost, torn down and destroyed. The Atlanta Historical Society strives to protect what is left of Atlanta’s history.

One of the features of the pioneer cemetery in Atlanta is these unique pipe grave enclosures. Throughout the years, they have been damaged from weather and falling trees. We would like to thank Ryan McGrath for completing this project for us and the Idaho Heritage Trust for the grant that helped make this restoration possible.

Preservation is important! Historical Kerry Moosman has dedicated most of his life to saving the historic buildings in Atlanta. This special building got a new home this past week to save it from being torn down!
