๐Ÿฆˆ Itโ€™s the first day of Shark Week! And every year, I get my hopes up.

Because I love sharks.

Not just the toothy ones or the fast ones or the ones that leap out of the water in slow motion. But all of them.

The glowing ones. The striped ones. The ones with saw-shaped faces or hammer heads or frilly gills. The gentle giants. The deep-sea weirdos. The ones that clean coral reefs.

There are over 500 species of sharks, and they play a vital role in keeping our oceans healthy. Most are harmless, misunderstood, and at risk because of human activity.

This week, letโ€™s do better.
๐Ÿ’™ Share shark facts, not fear.
๐Ÿ’™ Learn about one youโ€™ve never heard of.
๐Ÿ’™ Celebrate sharks for what they really are: ancient, beautiful, essential.

๐ŸŒŸ Meet the Firework Jellyfish
This deep-sea beauty is known as the firework jellyfish because it looks like a floating explosion of light!

Found over 4,000 feet deep near Mexico, this jellyโ€™s tentacles light up like a starburst when disturbed. Itโ€™s not bioluminescent (it doesnโ€™t make its own light), but the way it reflects surrounding light makes it look like a living firework show underwater.

๐ŸŒŠ Natureโ€™s version of the Fourth of July โ€” and way better for the planet.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Did you know firework jellies existed? Drop a ๐ŸŽ† in the comments if you just learned something new!

๐ŸŽ† Happy 4th of July! While we celebrate with fireworks and fun, letโ€™s also protect the oceans we love. Did you know that fireworks leave behind plastic shells, chemicals, and litter that often end up in waterways?

This Independence Day, show your ocean love by:
๐ŸŒŠ Cleaning up after beach parties
โ™ป๏ธ Skipping plastic plates and utensils
๐Ÿงผ Choosing eco-friendly alternatives to glitter and confetti

Letโ€™s keep the red, white, blue โ€” and green โ€” vibes going ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒŽ

How are you helping the ocean today? Drop it in the comments.
