Created in honor of Dr. Bill Foege, a folk hero in the global health community, the annual award will recognize people and organizations who contribute substantially to the progress of global health. Dr. Foege is known as the man most responsible for eradicating small pox. The list of organizations he has led repre

sent the ‘A’ list of global health innovators. Now, a top award for achievement in global health is aptly being named for him. It is further fitting that the inaugural award winners, Rotary International and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, were brought together to eradicate polio globally by none other than, Bill Foege.
