PVIFF 50 Stars was founded in 2009 to ensure that children living in areas of low socioeconomic status have access to quality programs in the arts that will enable them to follow their dreams and maintain a strong zeal to pursue higher academic achievement. An academic sub-entity of Gipp Museums Inc 501(C)(3), the 50 Stars program is dedicated to primarily strengthening the lives of underprivilege
d children (1st -12th grade) living in low-income communities of Southwest Atlanta (SWATs) by organizing PVIFF mentors, collegiate students and others who wish to donate their time and expertise throughout the year. In its first year of inception and with its first class aboard, the PVIFF 50 Stars Program played a pivotal role in the lives of their participants by engaging them in community service, academic tutoring sessions, college preparation, art & technology based workshops, character building programming in hopes of opening new doors of opportunity outside of their immediate communities. An enormous emphasis has been placed on personal development, tutoring and college preparation and this is accomplished by augmenting each star’s interaction with their mentor in one-on-one tutoring and developmental sessions. The tutoring center provides youth with a safe, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning and experience academic and personal success.
