Our Mission:
To harbor a place for creatives to meet, fostering creative community through meetings, sharing, skill building, and giving back to the community. The West Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild provides a forum for modern quilters of all skill levels to share, learn and celebrate modern quilting. According to The Modern Quilt Guild, with which we were formerly affiliated, "Modern quilts are pr

imarily functional and inspired by modern design. Modern quilters work in different styles and define modern quilting in different ways, but several characteristics often appear which may help identify a modern quilt. These include, but are not limited to: the use of bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, and alternate grid work. 'Modern traditionalism' or the updating of classic quilt designs is also often seen in modern quilting." We meet monthly, generally on the third Thursday and host sew-ins and other events throughout the year. Guests are always welcome at our monthly meetings, even if you're only an aspiring quilter or curious about the craft.
