Cass County Burn Ban has been Extended for another 30 days as of this morning.

09/22/2026

Even with the teaspoon of rain we got yesterday in the area the burn ban is still in EFFECT . Please DO NOT BURN! We are dry dry dry and your little fire is going to burn burn burn not only any and everything in its path when it gets out but also your bank account because you will be held responsible. Cass county is still under a burn ban so the answer is NO to burning. So please just because it rained for 3 whole seconds totaling to a whopping teaspoon of water, that does not mean the burn ban has been lifted, what determines that is several factors all of which end with the judge making the final decision!

So the summer of 26 burn ban is still in full swing and hanging around just like your favorite hair band from the 80’s!

When the burn ban is lifted we will share here like we always do so everyone knows!

It’s time for another Spotlight Saturday for another of YOUR Atlanta Firefighters!

Introducing FF/EMT Eli Dryden a hometown Atlanta guy! While new to the AFD Eli comes to AFD with some valuable experience from prior experience. Eli was hired in our last round of hirings a few months ago and assigned to “B” shift. He’s a great asset to the department and the community! Another fun fact about Eli is his brother is also an Atlanta fireman assigned to “C” shift. Traditionally in the fire service it’s not uncommon to have relatives work together, the fire service tends to be a family business in a lot of families.

Here’s what Eli had to say!

My name is Eli Dryden I’m 19 years old, I’ve lived in Atlanta the majority of my life. I graduated from Atlanta High School and went straight into the fire service. I worked at caddo parish fire district 8 for a year and a half before coming over to Atlanta. I like to ride my motorcycle, watch football and baseball, and hangout with family.

Eli we appreciate your passion to the fire service and we look forward to many many years of having you at AFD! Thank you for accepting the calling to be a firefighter and for choosing our community to serve!!

In Remembrance of all who sacrificed on this day God’s speed.

It’s almost that time of year again, you know the busy time full of hustle and bustle kids trying to get on the bus to get to school and folks trying to get to work and vise versus. We just wanted to share this reminder for traffic safety when coming into the traffic areas where school busses are loading and unloading kids at their bus stops. Traffic can be chaotic at this time and we have all been there but please respect the law and be mindful of the little ones and the bigger ones while they get on and off the bus. Please share and as always be safe out there!

Thank you,
YOUR Atlanta Firefighters 🚒
