The Atlanta Area Council Volunteer Service Center, located at 1800 Circle 75 Pkwy, Atlanta, Georgia, is the operations center for all of the Council's activities throughout the year. Led by Scout Executive/CEO Tracy Techau, the Atlanta Area Council covers 13 metro-Atlanta Counties: Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Haralson, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Rockdale.

Congratulations to Judge Phillip Jackson on receiving the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award!

Judge Jackson serves on the Fulton County Juvenile Court bench, bringing to the role a distinguished legal background that includes degrees from the University of Georgia and Georgia State University, and admission to both the Georgia and District of Columbia Bar Associations.He first joined Scouting as a Cub Scout and later returned to the program when his nephew began his own Scouting journey. Since 2009, he has served in numerous leadership roles, including Assistant Scoutmaster, Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner for the Southern Crescent District, and Merit Badge Counselor. Even as his roles evolved, he has remained deeply involved through mentoring Scouts and participating in Eagle Scout boards of review. Judge Jackson’s enduring commitment to Scouting reflects his dedication to guiding youth with integrity, perseverance, and service to the community.

Congratulations to Christine Olateru on receiving the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award!

Christine is a dedicated professional and community leader whose career spans retail, marketing, and real estate. She currently serves as a Specialist in the Data Utilization Department for Fulton County Schools, supporting strategy and technology initiatives. A proud University of Georgia graduate and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Christine has been an active Scouting volunteer since her twin sons began their journey as Cub Scouts - both ultimately earning the rank of Eagle on her birthday. She has served as Den Leader, Pack Committee Chair, Merit Badge Counselor, and now chairs the Southwest Atlanta District Advancement Committee. Christine’s lifelong commitment to youth development and service continues to inspire others in Scouting and beyond.

Congratulations to Jennifer Prater on receiving the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award!

Jennifer has devoted more than 12 years to Scouting, serving in leadership roles across unit, district, and council levels. A Registered Nurse and Critical Care educator, she first got involved as a Cub Scout leader before taking on key positions including District Camping Chair and current Program Vice Chair. At the council level, Jen has served as Health Officer since 2019, chaired major Cub Family Camping events, and currently directs the Health Lodge at Woodruff Scout Camp. Her extensive involvement includes leadership roles with Day Camp, NYLT, and Wood Badge. A proud mom of two and a March of Dimes Nurse of the Year nominee, Jen is deeply committed to youth development, health, and safety in Scouting.
