About us…
When I first moved to Atlanta, I received
a letter from Hosea Williams asking for a
donation for his program to feed the
homeless. I had never heard of any
feeding programs prior to receiving his
letter. I later found out that Sisters United
had a feeding program and I volunteered
to work with them to feed the homeless. This wonderful
experience made me realize there were many people who
were homeless and hungry. After speaking with people who
were familiar with the homeless situation in the area, I found
out that there was a great need at the corner of Pine and
Cortland in downtown Atlanta.
In 2002, I was inspired to start a foundation to feed the
homeless. By 2007, with the support of Rashid Rashad,
Najiyyah Waajid and volunteers, we were able to
develop a fully functioning operation. We would get up
each Sunday morning to cook what food we could
provide and would set-up tables in a public parking
lot and feed those who came in need. As each
Sunday passed, we began to see more and more faces
coming through the line.
We now have four teams comprised of 50 volunteers from
multiple faiths including representatives from the
International League of Muslim Women, Chocolate Faith
and Hope, and Sisters United in Human Services. Together,
we feed at least 150 people each week. We also joined
Elisabeth Omilami s Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless
organization when called to service by President Barack
Obama to feed the multitude at Turner Field on MLK
day 2009.

donations of time, money, and other
resources to aid in our effort to serve
those desperately in need of many
of the things that we take for
granted such as hot food, dry
clothing, blankets, and toiletries.
