Meet Big Brother Dr. Philip and Little Brother Myles!💚

Dr. Philip has been instrumental in launching BIGYB, our new mentoring pilot partnership with Morehouse Football, and he’s now doubled down on his commitment to youth mentorship by becoming a Big in our traditional Community-Based Mentoring program.

Thank you, Dr. Philip, for continuing to show up for young people and congratulations to Dr. Philip and Myles on their new match! We can’t wait to see where this journey takes you both.

More than 100 guests joined us at Topgolf Midtown on Sept. 11, helping us raise more than $100,000 for mentorship in metro Atlanta and surpass our fundraising goal! We’re so grateful to everyone who came out, sponsored the event, donated, played a round and helped make the day such a success.

A special thank-you to our Gold Eagle sponsors: Georgia Power, First Horizon Bank, Genuine Parts Company and Georgia-Pacific for investing in the work we do and the young people we serve. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Congratulations to Cox Enterprises on being named the 2026 IMPACT Corporate Program of the Year by the CVC of Atlanta! 🎉

In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Cox Enterprises supports Beyond School Walls, a site-based mentoring program. It brings high school students into the workplace each month for mentoring, career exposure and hands-on professional experiences.

Those experiences can help build confidence, explore career paths and envision what’s possible after high school. In May 2025, 100% of participating seniors graduated on time, 99% avoided the juvenile justice system and 94% had plans for post-secondary education.

We’re proud to see Cox’s commitment to our students and to mentorship recognized through this award. 👏

Fifteen boys from our waiting list and their parents/guardians got to experience Morehouse football up close at last Saturday’s BIGYB Kickoff.

BIGYB, or “Brother, I Got Your Back,” is a new initiative from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta in partnership with Morehouse College Football and the Morehouse Football Alumni Association. The initiative is designed to engage boys on our waitlist with meaningful experiences and connections as they wait to be matched with a Big Brother through our traditional mentoring program.

The day included an orientation at Forbes Arena, a meet-up at the MLK statue, on-field warmups and pregame activities with Morehouse football players and alumni, lunch at the stadium and, of course, the Morehouse vs. Central State game.

Thank you to Morehouse Football and the Morehouse Football Alumni Association for helping make this experience possible!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta CEO Kwame Johnson joined 11Alive this morning alongside Atlanta Culture Week’s Octavia Toliver to talk about this year’s 10th anniversary celebration and the role mentorship can play in shaping Atlanta’s future.

Atlanta Culture Week celebrates the people who make our city what it is, and this year, we’re bringing mentorship into that conversation by encouraging more Atlantans to invest in the next generation.

More than 100 boys are currently waiting to be matched with a mentor, and during Atlanta Culture Week, we hope to inspire at least 50 men to take the first step toward becoming a mentor.

📺 Watch the full interview and stay tuned for more ways to join us throughout Atlanta Culture Week!
