Atlanta Planeteers ... please don't miss this opportunity coming up December 4th!!! I'm so passionate about the movement that is Common Ground Film -- and joining the panel discussion after the film which will allow everyone to dig even deeper on regenerative agriculture!

Big Picture Ranch and Area 23a present the Atlanta premiere screening -- a hopeful and uplifting story of the pioneers of the "Regenerative Movement” who produce tremendous quantities of nutritionally dense food and are working to balance the climate - all while bringing our entire ecosystem back to life. The film explores how Americans from different walks of life, different political backgrounds, and different parts of the country share one thing in common –the very soil beneath their feet. The film investigates the power of "regenerative" farming systems –from large to small-scale farmers who are the champions of soil health as the key to unlocking more (and healthier) food to feed America and the world.

The cast includes Laura Dern, Rosario Dawson, Jason Mamoa, Woody Harrelson, Ian Somerhalder, and Donald Glover.

Evening Schedule:
6:00 PM: Doors open
6:30 PM: Screening Begins
8:15 PM: Post-event discussion

Special Post-Event Discussion:
After the film, there will be an inspirational post-screening Q&A about the incredible regenerative agriculture movement planting across the country.

Featured Speakers:
Laura Turner Seydel - International Environmental Advocate, Moderator
Rosario Dawson - Actress, Activist & EP of Common Ground
Will Harris Will Harris - Founder of White Oak Pastures
Wayner Swanson Jr. - Founder of Swanson Family Farms

The Turner Foundation celebrates along with the Blackfeet Nation the successful return of the first free roaming herd of American bison on Indigenous lands.

The foundation supported the Blackfeet's Iinnii Initiative along with Wildlife Conservation Society for many years, that had at its heart the restoration of bison. We are grateful to see this come to fruition.

https://flatheadbeacon.com/2023/06/28/blackfeet-bring-bison-home-to-chief-mountain/

A brazen bison calf was the first to clamber off the livestock trailer and into the shadow of Chief Mountain, where for a few wobbly moments it stood alone, blinking uncertainly at a sprawling ancestral homeland that hasn’t supported a herd of wild buffalo for 150 years. An instant later, in a thu...

This Mother's Day we celebrate this healthy and devoted Mama doing her part. From a habitat perspective, this photo also demonstrates a success story. Black bears in the Great Smokies National Park are thriving. Scientists estimate 1900 bears call the park home, almost tripling the population that existed 30 years ago. Careful stewardship including habitat protection and enhancement, managed hunts, and the establishment of refuges where hunting is restricted in the larger landscape - combined with policies like local ordinances requiring the use of bear proof garbage containers - has resulted in this rebound. Bears are spreading into places they have not been for decades, reclaiming forests and fields within their historic range and reconnecting long-isolated and fragmented populations. That’s why the Turner Foundation supports science-based efforts to keep ecosystems intact and protect migration corridors so Mamas of all shapes and sizes can live their best life and enjoy some lazy days of summer.

We love seeing the world through our Founder and Chairman's eyes!

Springtime ushers in a symphony of color and wonder -- including one of my favorite sights -- bison calves or "red dogs". During this season of renewal and regeneration the calves' fur will change to more of a brown color in just a few months' time. Nature has a knack for keeping things interesting. Another reason to honor it and .

Our Story

If you ask our Founder and Chairman, Ted Turner, what his favorite natural place is, you'll receive an inspired response like this one:

"It's Planet Earth, the whole place. I've been from the Arctic to the rainforest to the equator to the desert. I've visited over 70 countries. I love this world. I want to see humanity succeed, and learn to live in peace and harmony with the environment and each other."

Ted has always been interested in the totality of the planet. In fact, he believes so emphatically in protecting the environment from further degradation that he views it as no less than, "an effort to ensure the survival of the human species." To that end, Ted founded the Turner Foundation in 1990, whose principles are based on that of its founder and rooted in its commitment to protecting and restoring natural systems - land, air and water - on which all life depends.

Turner Foundation, Inc. has allowed Ted the opportunity to collaborate with his five children and his grandchildren, and discuss with them the ways in which they all can become and remain responsible philanthropists and environmentalists.
