Give yourself the gift of retreat at Elohee! Join Kay Stewart at the beautiful Elohee Retreat Center as we invite spaciousness by mindfully slowing down to the rhythm of life. We’ll listen deeply to ourselves and each other as we explore ancient and enduring practices for individual and collective well-being including mindfulness meditation, gentle mindful movement, poetic inquiry, and self-reflection.

We’ll turn to nature for insight and inspiration, with ample time to relax and enjoy the beauty of Elohee. Whether hiking on lovely, well-marked trails, strolling peacefully through the woods, or simply sitting and breathing it all in, you’ll be surrounded by the serenity and healing energy of this oasis in the mountains of North Georgia.

This Mindful Living Retreat is all-inclusive including:

- Two nights’ lodging in Elohee’s cozy, comfortable cottages.
- Delicious meals provided from arrival day dinner through departure day lunch. All meals are prepared by a local chef using freshly-prepared ingredients.
- A 24-hour tea house, always open for relaxing and enjoying a cup of tea
- A gentle rhythm of invitations to group sessions including guidance in mindfulness meditation, mindful movement/yoga, poetry, self-reflection, journaling, and small and large group conversations
- Bonfire/star gazing (weather permitting)
- Guided hike as well as unguided hiking on well marked trails (weather permitting)
- Optional Massage/Spa services (*not included in registration fee)

Join us on the path of presence, learning how to be in wise relationship to the moment, mindfully, compassionately and enfolded in a circle safely with others.

Our circle intends to honor and rewire our experience and our neurocircuitry for resilience, joy, compassion, and embodied presence through mindfulness practices, gentle movement, interpersonal sharing, gratitude practices and micro learning.
All while grounding in evidence based practices, the breath and the body.

Through our sessions, we aim to safely foster healing and connection to self and each other, through empirically validated breathwork, body movement and deep, therapeutic, collaborative sharing of our internal experience (think process not content).

Where: In person, in the Shallowford Youth Center.

Group Size: 6-12 individuals to foster a small group experience.

Cost: $200 for 8-session circle, scholarships are available!

We never want tuition to be a barrier to participation. Please contact Shallowford Center for Mindful Living’s Director of Mindfulness Education, Kay Stewart, to request a full or partial scholarship.

Join us for "Being Ready: Leaning into Purpose-full Living and Dying," an in-person retreat March 7-8th.

It’s never too soon to thoughtfully plan for the end of your life. This topic is often avoided in our society as it can feel overwhelming or depressing. Generally, if it is discussed, it is usually limited to estate planning or advance directives. However, purpose-full preparation for dying is much more and can actually be life-giving, healing, and deeply rewarding.

Health care leader, mindfulness teacher, and author, Susan Bauer-Wu, will join us at Shallowford to offer insights and practical suggestions to cultivate inner resources and create concrete plans to approach mortality with clear eyes, thankful hearts, ease, and joy. This fresh take on end-of-life planning leads to a greater sense of what matters to you now, plans for your future, and lasting gifts for you and your loved ones.

March 7-8, 2025 (option to attend one or both workshop days)

- Friday, March 7 from 10am to Noon
- Saturday, March 8 from 9am to 3pm (includes lunch)

May it be so …

May kindness open us to the “better angels of our nature”

May we embrace our common humanity and our capacity for living a life of love.

We live to serve the community, and through our connection with Shallowford Presbyterian Church,

we are committed to enhancing and deepening spiritual health.

embracing our common humanity and our capacity for living a life of love.

For such a time as this … join us as we practice calling on the better angels of our nature

Pause, be still, breathe, and know that you’re breathing … allowing these words from Khalil Gibran to drop from your head to your heart. May we slow down, bowing before children as we practice living these words with grace, humility, joy, and compassion.

Do we walk through the days intoxicated with the distractions of the modern world insisting we are strangers? OR do we dare to walk into the endless crowd of souls, exclaiming we are sisters and brothers?
