Why it matters.
⬇️ Subscribe free & stay in the loop In 2009, our founders were leading arts critics for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) when the paper all but eliminated its arts coverage and most of its arts writers. That same year, after departing the AJC, they founded ArtsATL to fill that void ensuring there was a place for thoughtful arts criticism along with news and feature stories.

They knew that journalistic coverage is essential to a thriving arts community and metro area. To this day, ArtsATL is the only publication that provides comprehensive arts coverage of metro Atlanta. With sections devoted to Art+Design, Music, Film+TV, Theater, Dance, Books, our Events Calendar, our free subscriber-based newsletter and social media channels, we are the authoritative voice and go-to resource for the arts in Atlanta. Now in our 16th year, ArtsATL covers the diverse arts and cultural offerings of Atlanta and serves as a connector for artists and arts organizations to their audiences and to arts enthusiasts. ArtsATL plays a critical role in the arts ecosystem by informing and educating audiences not only about metro Atlanta's performances and events, but also the arts' importance to the city. Our mission and vision are to build and expand arts audiences to create a sustainable local arts community that contributes to the economic and cultural health of metro Atlanta.

Atlanta’s most iconic cemetery… but make it glow. ✨

This April, Oakland Cemetery transforms into a lit-up art experience with immersive installations from 10 artists, including VAYNE, Christina Kwan and Fabian Williams.

Oakland and Cat Eye Creative have partnered with Downtown Atlanta, Inc., The Neon Company and the High Museum to bring illumine back bigger than ever.

Grab a drink and explore live music, light and art inside one of Atlanta’s most historic spaces.

illumine runs April 16-19 and 23–26, with tickets starting at $10 (all proceeds support historic Oakland Cemetery).
