Missing a court date can mean a warrant for your arrest. For many people, that missed date has nothing to do with avoiding the system and everything to do with the realities of life.

Transportation, unstable housing, work schedules, childcare, and not getting a mailed notice in time are some of the most common reasons people miss court appearances.

Think back to the last time something got lost in the mail, a car broke down, or you had an emergency. Something that common should not put people back in prison or make their situation worse.

A simple text reminder can change that. Court date reminders have been shown to reduce missed appearances and the unnecessary arrests that follow.

We believe in solutions that actually work for people, not more punishment for problems the system itself created.

Share this post with someone who also believes in common sense reforms for the justice system.

Real public safety does not start with more police or more prisons.

Women on the Rise’s Robyn, Moki with PAD, Tiffany with SCHR, and Jacquel Clemons Moore came together for a powerful conversation about what it actually looks like when communities are given care instead of cages.

The panel explored lessons from Atlanta organizers and community leaders who have worked to build safety through accountability, prevention, collaboration, and community-centered solutions.

LGBTQ+ people are some of the most targeted and least protected people inside the criminal legal system.

Black and Brown q***r and trans women face violence, discrimination, and abuse at every stage of the system, and the barriers they face on the outside are just as dangerous.

This Pride Month, and all year long, Women On the Rise stands with our LGBTQ+ community, inside and out.

Everyone deserves to live fully and freely as themselves.

Reentry isn't a fresh start. For many women, walking out of prison means walking into a wall.

Finding housing with a record. Rebuilding relationships with your children. Looking for work when employers can see your past before they see you.

And doing all of that while trying to heal from what incarceration does to a person.

Women On the Rise exists because the system isn't designed to help people succeed after release. We fill that gap with real support, real resources, and real community.

Runoff elections are coming, and they can be decided by a small number of votes.

That means your vote carries real weight.

For justice-impacted women, who is in office matters. It shapes parole boards, reentry funding, and the laws that follow us home.

Do not sit this one out.

Women On the Rise celebrated the graduation of members who completed our AI-informed computer skills class.

Watching our community members receive their certicates shows the willingness to bridge the gap of technology that is created by incarceration.

A criminal record should not mean a life without opportunity. But too often, the system strips people of the basic skills and resources needed to get back on their feet. Learning to navigate technology is one of those foundational steps that opens doors to jobs, education, and independence.

We are proud of every person who showed up, put in the work, and earned this milestone. This is what investing in our community looks like.

As caregivers and advocates, we spend so much time showing up for others that we forget to care for ourselves too. Burnout and compassion fatigue are real. Rest, boundaries, and protecting our mental health are part of the work too. ❤️

When you are incarcerated, getting basic medical care can feel impossible.

Requests get ignored. Conditions get worse. People suffer without anyone being held accountable.

No one should lose their right to healthcare simply because they are incarcerated.

Follow to see the ways we fight to improve women’s health care access across the system.
