Are you aware of this??

For more than 25 years, Olmstead’s integration mandate has driven the expansion of home and community-based services (HCBS), helping millions of older adults and people with disabilities live in their own homes and communities.

That foundation for HCBS is now under threat. This summer, the Department of Justice announced it would no longer rely on its longstanding Olmstead guidance, creating a profound danger: shifting the burden of enforcing the right to community living onto people with disabilities themselves.

Fulfilling the integration mandate by providing access to community living has always depended on home care workers. In our latest piece, PHI Senior Policy Advocacy Specialist Jake McDonald explains why we should focus on supporting this workforce, not on rolling back decades of progress.

Realizing the right to community living requires meaningful, sustained investment in the home care workforce that millions of Americans depend on to live with dignity, independence, and choice.

How are you celebrating?

💛 **Happy National Senior Citizens Day!**

Today, August 21, we celebrate the wisdom, resilience, achievements, and contributions of older adults.

National Senior Citizens Day was established by presidential proclamation in 1988 as a reminder to recognize the important role older adults play in our families and communities.

Let’s honor older adults not just today, but every day—by listening to their stories, valuing their voices, supporting their independence, and creating opportunities for connection, purpose, and belonging.

Every older adult has a story worth hearing. 💛
