Marjan Yavari and Reverend Bronson Elliott Woods Join the Board of Georgia Works

ATLANTA, February 13, 2025 – Georgia Works, a nonprofit working to transform Atlanta’s homeless population, welcomes two new board members to the organization. Marjan Yavari and The Reverend Bronson Elliott Woods both have deep ties to the Atlanta community.

Marjan Yavari has lived in Atlanta for 30 years. Originally from Iran, she is the co-chair of the National Center for Racial Amity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting unity and understanding across racial and cultural divides. Yavari is an active member of the Baha'i community and served on the advisory boards of the Tahirih Justice Center and Childspring International. She is also the founder and owner of the BE on Edgewood in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward.

Reverend Bronson Elliott Woods is the Assistant Pastor of Global Missions and Outreach Ministries at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. His work in food insecurity, health equity and community empowerment has strengthened Ebenezer Baptist’s mission to uplift marginalized communities. Prior to joining Ebenezer, Woods was the Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee where he provided guidance at the intersection of social justice, community development, and national policy. Rev. Woods is a veteran of the United States Air Force and holds a Master of Divinity from the Morehouse School of Religion and a Master of Theology from Candler School of Theology at Emory University..

“Georgia Works is honored to welcome such strong leadership to our board,” says Chip Patterson, Board Chair of Georgia Works. “Marjan Yavari and Reverend Woods bring a wealth of knowledge to the table and will be key in our expansion to transform those experiencing homelessness into self-sufficient members of society.”
