Our Story
My name is Sammie, and I am 19 years old from Atlanta, GA. I am currently working on a non profit book that will support the hopes and dreams of kids going through cancer, cystic fibrosis, and heart diseases. The book's projected publishing date is in June of 2018, and all of the profits are being donated evenly to Enduring Hearts, Lighthouse Family Retreat, and Juvenile Arthritis Foundation. The basis of the book is to have the kids draw a picture of what they want to be when they grow up and then I am writing a personal biography about them when I talk to them to have beside their drawing, so the reader can get to know them. I am having a survivor section to instill hope and inspiration among the kids. I have been working on this book for the past eight months and have experienced road blocks that I have had to overcome. My inspiration for this book is due to a little boy I met four years ago at a greek restaurant in New York City. We began speaking to one another and after an hour, he informed me that he had Neuroblastoma and had many tumors removed. He inspired me because he acted as if he had no reason to be sad. He loved his life because he was not letting his diagnosis bring him down. Meeting this eight year old boy changed my life forever. Sadly, I never got his name or number, and I have never been able to contact him since that night. Wherever he or his family is, I want them to know he inspired me to change the world. I could not thank him enough!
