Today we honor Juneteenth, the day freedom finally reached those who had been denied it, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. 📜

Juneteenth reminds us that progress requires courage, perseverance, and the willingness to stand for what is right—even when the path is difficult. 💪🏾

As Atlanta firefighters, we are proud to serve every neighborhood, every family, and every community across our city. 🚒🏙️

Today we celebrate the resilience, strength, and contributions of those who fought for freedom and helped shape our nation. ✊🏾

Today, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department joins the fire service community in mourning the loss of Rockdale County Fire Rescue Firefighter Juan Antonia Smith II, who died in the line of duty.

Firefighter Smith answered the call to serve others and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the members of Rockdale County Fire Rescue during this difficult time.

The men and women of Atlanta Fire Rescue stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Rockdale County as they navigate this profound loss.

As we move Local 134 forward, I look forward to working with our membership to ensure our social media communication platforms inform, engage, and connect our members while highlighting issues, opportunities, and initiatives that serve all firefighters and the community we serve.

I welcome feedback from our members and the community we serve on ways we can strengthen communication, community engagement, and further the positive impact of our Local.

Prayers for the family of FF Kilduff and his Boston brothers and sisters.

Robert “BK" Kilduff, Jr. exemplified what it meant to be a union firefighter. BK was passionate about his profession, assigned to Rescue Company 2, and passionate about improving the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters, working as a staff member of the PFFM for the last 15 years.

More than anything else, BK was passionate about being a father. The PFFM sends all of our love and support to both of his children and will stand with Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF to ensure they have whatever they need.
