Here in Atlanta and across the world, protests are taking place against racism. We are having meaningful conversations about inequality, some of us for the first time and others as an ongoing dialogue. As a community and as a center, we are striving to tend to the great wound that systemic racism and injustice have created.

We at the Samaritan Center want our black community members to know that we stand with them. As therapists, spiritual leaders, pastoral counselors, social workers and caregivers we strive to be empathetic.

In the words of Adrian Michael Green (as shared through Onsite Workshops’ Instagram page) “empathy is a love language”,it says: "let me sit with you. and breathe with you. i may not know exactly what you are going through. but i recognize your hurting. your energy is depleted. it is )crystal clear( this isn’t brand new. that this has happened over and over and over and over and over and while trying to heal you have had to carry the burden of convincing others to see your pain. know that i am not around just for the good times or the happy times or the celebrations. i am in this for the hardships. the lowest. the challenges. it is there where we grow. it is the place we embrace and get closer. i admit i’ve been too far away. never again. i’m here.”
