The Greater Atlanta Archaeological Society

The Greater Atlanta Archaeological Society GAAS is one of ten chapters belonging to the Society of Georgia Archaeology aimed at promoting the field of archaeology for professionals and amateurs.

The Greater Atlanta Archaeology Society is one of many chapters around the state that belong to the Society of Georgia Archaeology. The group currently meets once a month on the second Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the auditorium at Fernbank Museum of Natural History located at 767 Clifton Road Atlanta, GA 30307. Each month we bring speakers of varying backgrounds to present to our members on their areas

of expertise. The meetings are open to the public and membership is affordable. An individual membership is $20, a family is $25, and students are $10. Our meetings present opportunities for students , amateurs, professionals, and those simply interested in the history around them to mix and mingle. In the summertime, there are even opportunities for members to participate in ongoing archaeological excavations. Please stay tune to the page as we intend to fill with information about our members, speakers, projects, events around Atlanta, and much more.
