Dear Pittsburgh and surrounding community, This message is to let you know that I am leaving the Pittsburgh Community Improvement Association (PCIA) effective today, October 31, 2017. (I will always remember Halloween 2017 smile). Since September of 2016, I have had the honor and pleasure to serve as the Interim Executive Director of PCIA. I've been blessed to get to know many residents. I learned a lot - about the history, current opportunities, and what I think will be an exciting future for Pittsburgh. I leave wishing the very best for PCIA, PNA, other community organizations, the Pittsburgh community in general and the communities that surround Pittsburgh. Try to keep love in your hearts and your actions and things will work out. For any future questions, contact Andy Schneggenburger who is assuming some of the daily operational duties or the new Chair of PCIA, William Gayleano Murray.
Peace and Blessings to you,
Kathryn Rice, Ph.D.

I attended Ariel Bowen United Methodist Church's 135th anniversary today (October 22, 2017). I was there when Mayor Kasim Reed attended the service and agreed to donate $10,000. And I was there when Mayor Reed, after hearing Pastor Hope's profuse thanks to him and God, decided to double the gift and make it $20,000!! Look at the shock on Pastor Hope's face as well as the Bishop that spoke. They were really surprised. Then we were treated to a wonderful sermon by the Bishop followed by great food by the church. It was a wonderful anniversary.

Dear Neighbor,

The Pittsburgh Neighborhood Association will meet Friday at 6:00 PM at Pittman Park to consider who to recommend for the organization that will oversee the funds set aside for the communities from the sale of the old Turner Field property.
Hope to see you there.
