update: Last night 50+ neighbors from the East Atlanta / Sky Haven area showed up to meet w DeKalb Co School District board member Dierdre Pierce (Dist 3), the Superintendent Dr. Devon Horton, and COO Erick Hofstetter. Neighbors presented decades long evidence of neglect of the property & called upon DCSD to PROTECT, RESPECT & RESTORE the land for our community. And to deed the land to DeKalb County Parks so that it may be properly maintained & protected.

The Citizen Group's amendments will ensure that at least a few of Atlanta’s best trees will have some protection. Tell them why protecting trees is important to you and ask them to include the best parts of both the Planning Dept. and the Citizens Group drafts into Atlanta's new tree protection ordinance.

According to City records, Atlanta lost twice as many healthy trees in 2022 than in 2021 to development or redevelopment – an exponential jump from previous years and an avoidable tragedy.
