Reimagining Community in the Age of Disconnection
Communal living isn’t just for cults or millennials with a pipe dream.
Join editor Samantha Paige Rosen and contributors to Living, Together, a new anthology on communal living that invites us to imagine what new opportunities for connection exist when we push through the walls society has built for us. Our panel will be moderated by freelance writer and reporter Rainesford Stauffer.
Living, Together: Reimagining Community in the Age of Disconnection is literary, activist, and q***r, vulnerable and hopeful in its exploration of the different ways we might come together through intentional community, with essay topics on chosen family, mutual aid, living with friends, living with siblings in adulthood, multigenerational households, transformative neighbor relationships, homes on wheels, drag houses as historic models for community, artist and immigrant communities, and more.
Samantha Paige Rosen’s writing on identity, the arts, and culture has appeared in the Washington Post, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Slate, and elsewhere. She lives outside of Philadelphia, where she is a freelance writer and editor, a writing tutor and coach, and an amateur potter. Her first book, the literary anthology Living, Together: Reimagining Community in the Age of Disconnection, will be published on 7/14/26.
Elizabeth Hart Bergstrom is a q***r, chronically ill writer who was born in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, on Monacan land. Their essays appear in Michigan Quarterly Review, the New York Times, Catapult, and elsewhere. Elizabeth's short stories have been published in Bennington Review, Indiana Review, Passages North, Witness, Wigleaf, and other journals. Mary Anne Adams is a community activist, social worker, and public health community researcher. She is the founder and executive director of ZAMI NOBLA (National Organization of Black Le****ns on Aging) based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Rainesford Stauffer is a freelance writer and reporter, nonfiction author, and Kentuckian. Her work has appeared in TIME Magazine, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Esquire, Teen Vogue, and other publications. She is the author of An Ordinary Age and All the Gold Stars.
