Something NEW has arrived downtown!

The Atlanta City Development Corporation is pleased to host a Little Free Library, produced and maintained by the Cass County HOPE 4H Club โ€œCloverbudsโ€ (5-8 year-olds) and delivered on Saturday to the Plaza on Main pocket park.

The installment is one of five Little Free Libraries built by 4H volunteers and club parents and managed by the Cloverbuds group as a community service project to spread literacy and create access to books for Cass County readers of all ages.

According to Club Sponsor, Krystal Savage, Cloverbuds met once per week from January 2026 - May 2026 to work on project plans, bookmarks, flyers, sort books, stamp books, etc.

โ€œAll libraries are officially registered with the Little Free Library Company and have their own charter numbers. They can be located on the official LFL website map or on the LFL app. Visitors of the libraries can check in, post photos, and more through the app. We also have a Cass County TX Little Free Libraries public Facebook group so community members can post their experiences and participate in fun challenges and activities we have planned with the libraries,โ€ said Savage.

We thank the Cloverbuds for their hard work and ongoing upkeep of this local literacy tool! ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ“š

Today, our Executive Director, Miranda Johnson, had the opportunity to speak in Bossier City, LA as a panelist regarding the importance of "Third Places" in the context of community and economic development.

If home is your First Place, and Work/School is your Second Place, Third Place is another location where people can easily gather to make social connections and find a sense of belonging within their community. A place where "everybody knows your name!" Or where you're at least a familiar face to other regulars ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

Miranda was able to share some good Third Place examples from Atlanta, such as: The Sweet Spot Atlanta and the Atlanta, TX Public Library.

Additional Third Places might be parks, cafes, gyms or sport courts, walking trails, churches or corner stores- basically any place where people of all kinds can go to soak up the benefits of a place that provides community connection outside of their home or work. Do you have a favorite Third Place in the Atlanta Area? Explain in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

To the 2026 Community Development Institute - Louisiana Year 1 Class: Enjoy recognizing great third places and building capacity within your own communities! โœจ
