Our very own Christin Cerda is helping bring critical attention to kidney health, advocacy, and the urgent disparities facing Black patients in need of transplants.

We’re incredibly proud to see Christin featured in this important CBS News Atlanta story, highlighting the journey of Douglas County Fire Chief Miles Allen and the broader conversation around genetic kidney disease, living donation, and health equity. ⚠️ Today is National High Potassium Awareness Day! ⚠️

For individuals living with chronic kidney disease (CKD), managing potassium levels is an important part of protecting your health. When kidneys aren’t functioning properly, potassium can build up in the blood, which may increase the risk of serious heart complications.

Knowing your potassium levels—and understanding how food choices impact them—can make a powerful difference.

🥑🍌🍅 Many healthy foods can also be high in potassium, so it’s essential to work with your healthcare team to build a kidney-friendly nutrition plan.

🧡Take charge of your kidney health today:
✔️ Learn about potassium and CKD
✔️ Review your diet
✔️ Talk to your healthcare provider

👉 Get more information here: https://www.kidney.org/kidney-topics/potassium-your-ckd-diet

Awareness leads to action, and action can save lives.

Potassium is vital for many body functions, and people with kidney disease must monitor their levels. Learn how to manage potassium intake to stay healthy.

What a fantastic evening at our recent Renal Roundtable in Mobile, Alabama at the beautiful Le Moyne's Chophouse! The energy in the room and the depth of conversation made it a truly meaningful gathering for everyone involved.

We were honored to host Dr. Rodolfo Batarsé from Desert Kidney Care in Rancho Mirage, CA, who led an engaging and insightful discussion on ANCA-associated vasculitis GPA and MPA. From exploring the complexity of this condition to sharing the latest approaches to care, the conversation sparked thoughtful dialogue and connection among attendees.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a dynamic exchange and to Amgen for their support in making this event possible. 👏🏾👏🏾

🧡 Together, we’re advancing knowledge, strengthening partnerships, and improving care for those impacted by kidney disease.

🧡 Nutrition Matters for Kidney Health, At Every Stage

What you eat plays a powerful role in protecting your kidneys and slowing the progression of kidney disease. The good news? Small, intentional changes can make a big difference.

If you or a loved one is living with kidney disease (Stages 1–5, not on dialysis), focusing on nutrition can help you:

✔️ Manage blood pressure and blood sugar
✔️ Reduce strain on your kidneys
✔️ Support overall health and energy

Key things to keep in mind:

🥗 Choose fresh, whole foods when possible
🧂 Limit sodium to help control blood pressure
🍗 Be mindful of protein intake (not too much, not too little)
🍌 Monitor nutrients like potassium and phosphorus based on your care plan

Everyone’s needs are a little different, so it’s important to follow guidance from your healthcare team.

🧡 Taking care of your kidneys starts with what’s on your plate.

Good nutrition helps people with kidney disease stay healthy. If your kidneys are not working so well, some changes in the diet help you feel better.
