🔦 Speaker Spotlight: Meet Dr. Desi Wanders!

We're excited to welcome Dr. Desi Wanders, Chair of the Department of Nutrition at Georgia State University, as our featured speaker for GAND's upcoming Legacy Circle educational event!

Dr. Wanders earned her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University and completed postdoctoral training at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Her research focuses on how obesity affects brain function and how dietary and pharmacologic interventions can reduce neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and disruptions in insulin signaling. As department chair, she is dedicated to advancing nutrition research and fostering collaboration among faculty and students.

During her presentation, "GLP-1 Receptor Agonists and Beyond: Current and Emerging Therapies," you'll learn to:
✔️ Explain how GLP-1 receptor agonists and other anti-obesity medications work, including their efficacy and safety.
✔️ Compare current and emerging pharmacologic therapies for obesity and understand their benefits and limitations.
✔️ Explore the registered dietitian's role in supporting patients through nutrition counseling and lifestyle interventions while using anti-obesity medications.
