Introducing AFP Greater Atlanta's Philanthropists of the Year - Angie and Sam Allen. The Allens will be presented with this honor at the 2026 National Philanthropy Day Luncheon on November 5.
Nominated by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Georgia State University J. Mack Robinson College of Business, GradyHealth Foundation, and The Griffin-Spalding County School System, Griffin GA, Angie and Sam Allen are the 2026 Philanthropists of the Year.
For decades, the Allens have invested their time, expertise, and resources to address the issues of inequity through strengthening access to education, healthcare, and economic mobility.
After a successful 30-year career in investment management culminating as the founding CEO of GLOBALT, Inc., an investment management firm focused on US companies with significant global operations, Angie switched gears to devote herself to advancing a more equitable society. She is the founder of Full Circle Living, where she focuses on addressing systemic barriers rather than their symptoms.
Inspired by her own journey as a first-generation college graduate, she served as chair of the Georgia State University Foundation Board of Trustees and its Investment Committee, helping strengthen one of the nation's leading universities for historically underserved students.
She is an inaugural member of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta's Spark Opportunity Advisory Committee, serves on the Grady Health Foundation Board of Advisors, and has served on the boards of Focused Community Strategies
(FCS) Urban Ministries and Crossroads Community Ministries.
Through her leadership, advocacy, and writing, she has encouraged institutions to expand opportunity, address injustice, elevate diverse voices, and create more pathways to success, with a specific emphasis on gender equity and reparations.
Sam is co-founder of GLOBALT, Inc. He has since lent his expertise to several boards and nonprofits, helping organizations launch programs, solve problems in real time, and implement solutions that support long-term success. Sam helped establish the Investment Committee of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and served on it for 20 years. He also served on the Board of Annandale Village, where he developed the organization's compensation and succession plans.
As a founding member of Year Up United Atlanta's Advisory Council, he helped launch the program by providing its first office space. At Georgia State University, he chaired the Andrew Young School Advisory Dean's Council, with Angie is a
supporter of the WomenLead Institute at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, and conceived and endowed Operation RESET, a teacher development initiative benefiting every educator in the Griffin Spalding County School System, in Sam’s hometown.
