Our after school students exercised the Engineering Design Process to create a mechanical system capable of rotating the middle section of a roadway by 90 degrees. They integrated various engineering concepts learned, applying them effectively to tackle a challenging project.

Today we progressed in our understanding of Simple Machines, exploring concepts like the Inclined Plane, Wedge, Axle and Wheels, and different types of Levers. We also delved into calculating mechanical advantages. Our scholars are currently immersed in an innovation project, following the Engineering Design Process to define problems, brainstorm solutions, build prototypes, test them, and finally present their innovations.

After-school scholars learned about binary numbers and how to convert denary (decimal) to binary numbers, and then letters to binary numbers. They then wrote a program to encode "LOVE" in binary.
LOVE in binary is: 01100 01111 10110 00101.

Some scholars grow up knowing an engineer, while most do not. Those they encounter may differ in gender, race, or other demographics. Engineering impacts our daily lives, and we've honed our skills with engineering materials.
