One Saturday afternoon in the winter of 2014, I was inspired to go next door and blow my elderly neighbor's leaves. I got my Stihl 400 backpack blower, filled it up with gas and went next door to begin blowing the leaves. My neighbor's yard has many trees and their large corner lot was covered with leaves. Although I was happy to do it, I wasn’t quite sure what motivated me to spend that beautiful
afternoon doing that chore. It wasn’t until I completed the entire corner lot that I understood the purpose. I felt an inspiration that spoke to my heart that I was doing a good deed for someone. This single act of doing a good deed for someone compelled me to launch a campaign called “A Deed A Week” to inspire others to also do good deeds. I feel a responsibility to extend the opportunity to the rest of the world to open up their hearts and begin doing good deeds for others. I hope that this simple act of kindness will have a trickle down effect globally. It is not the size of the deed, but the sincere willingness to help someone else. A good deed done for someone else can be life changing. We look forward to hearing about your own stories and we hope to use the connected impact of these stories to make a difference in our communities, our nation and our world. A DEED AWEEK can be done by anyone. We want to work with Individuals, families schools, sororities, fraternities, corporations, businesses, organizations, churches, etc. to find opportunities to “do good deeds for others." Please join us in doing good deeds for others.
