Georgia CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)

Georgia CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) We support affiliate CASA programs to provide best-interest advocacy for children in foster care.

Appointed by a judge, CASA volunteers advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers are child-focused, help improve each child’s experience in foster care, and advocate for a safe and permanent home when reunification with the child’s family isn’t likely. CASA advocates are citizen volunteers, supported by an experienced and knowledgeable staff member, offering

individualized attention and best-interest advocacy for children. The CASA program is the only model of this kind, built around one child and one compassionate, highly-trained adult advocate. Last year in Georgia, over 9,000 children were served by 2,600 CASA volunteers. Currently, 45 affiliate CASA programs exist in the state, serving 158 of Georgia's 159 counties.

"Dependable." "Fun!" "Supportive." "Always smiling."
These are just a few of the ways children who are experiencing foster care have described their CASA volunteers.

Children involved in the child welfare system need adults they can count on. CASA volunteers commit to being a reliable source of support and encouragement throughout a child's case.

Could you be this person for a child in your community?

"June marks the last month of our fiscal year, meaning our annual fundraising efforts are culminating in a flurry of activity and generosity. August brings together the statewide CASA network for the largest gathering with the Georgia CASA conference, which the team is already deep into securing presenters, planning workshops, preparing materials, and coordinating the countless details that make this large, single-day gathering so meaningful and rewarding each year. And this summer, as Atlanta hosts the World Cup, the official festivities are taking place just steps from our downtown office, bringing an entirely new level of energy and bustle to downtown Atlanta."

Our executive director, Jen King, sent out a letter this morning with an update on summer at Georgia CASA. This view from her office window changes every day!

Behind every dedicated CASA volunteer is a community of support making their advocacy possible.

Spouses, parents, children, friends, employers, CASA staff, and countless others help encourage and sustain the CASA volunteers who show up for children experiencing foster care. While CASA volunteers walk alongside a child on their journey toward safety, stability, and a permanent home, their support systems help make that commitment possible every step of the way.

Advocacy is never done alone. It takes compassion, encouragement, flexibility, and community.

To every CASA volunteer, and to every person supporting them behind the scenes, thank you for helping bring hope, consistency, and care to children and families in crisis.
