Some exciting news!!! “[On March 15th, 2021], all NYS licensed/registered child care programs received the Elijah’s Law policy ad corresponding forms (attached). This information was shared with all NYS child care regulators (and stakeholders) as well. While this is just the first step in implementation, it is an important one. As I may have mentioned, we translated all of the documents into Spanish, and these forms have also been shared with NYS DOH.
They intend to post them on their website as well.”

Thank you to OCfS,NYS.Gov and the D.O.H for making this happen for NYS Childcare.

The US FDA issued a warning letter to a popular grocery chain for repeated food recalls due to undeclared allergens or mislabeled foods. Read more: https://community.kidswithfoodallergies.org/blog/fda-issues-warning-to-whole-foods-market-about-mislabeling-of-allergens

Last year, the chain had 32 recalls because foods contained undeclared allergens.

From Melanie Carver, AAFA's Chief Mission Officer:
"32 million people in the U.S. are living with food allergies. This puts many at risk for potentially life-threatening allergic reactions. It’s important for consumers to know what is in their food for safe eating and drinking. The number of voluntary recalls throughout the nation due to undeclared allergens has increased over the past few years. We appreciate the FDA’s oversight in enforcing food label laws and regulations to keep consumers safe."

Empower youth and teens to contact manufacturers directly to inquire about ingredients and processes! FAKA has created a helpful conversation guide to use as an outline: Print page #2 and edit to accommodate your specific allergens:
