Have you ever faced a trial you thought was behind you, only to find yourself standing in the middle of it again?

Recently, I found myself asking hard questions when an old struggle resurfaced. Then God brought me back to a memory of standing on a beach in Saint Augustine, watching the waves roll in and stop exactly where He had ordained.

That reminder settled deep in my heart: the same God who sets boundaries for the sea sets boundaries for our storms.

"Even then, they are not limitless."

If you're walking through a season that feels unending, I hope this message encourages you to keep believing. There is a limit to every storm and a peace that carries us even when we can't yet see the shoreline.

It's fascinating how trust is built.

Sometimes it happens through something as ordinary as a flat tire on the side of the road.

Someone shows up when you need help, and from that moment on, you know exactly who you'll call the next time you have a problem.

Children work much the same way.

The first person who helps them understand a topic often becomes the person they trust most about it.
That's why this conversation challenged me so deeply.

When it comes to questions about identity, relationships, sexuality, and faith, many parents hope to wait until the "right time." But what if the right time is earlier than we think?

What if the goal isn't to have perfect answers, but to become a safe place for our children's questions?
The conversations we begin today may become the foundation our children stand on tomorrow.

One of the greatest fears many parents carry is this:

"What if talking about difficult topics steals my child's innocence?"

But what if the opposite is true?

What if silence leaves our children vulnerable to voices that do not have their best interests at heart?

One of the most powerful moments in my conversation with Elizabeth Urbanowicz was this reminder: teaching children God's design isn't taking something away from them. It's giving them a foundation strong enough to recognize truth when they encounter confusion.

Our children will eventually hear competing messages about identity, relationships, and sexuality. The question is not if they will hear them, but whether they will already know the voice of truth.

Jesus never promised that the road to life would be crowded.

In fact, He said just the opposite.

“Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:14)

The broad road is attractive because it requires little sacrifice. It follows our feelings, embraces cultural approval, and asks nothing of us except to keep going with the crowd. But Jesus lovingly warns that the easiest path is not always the safest one.

The narrow road is different. It requires surrender. It calls us to trust God when His ways don’t make sense, obey when it’s difficult, forgive when we’ve been wounded, and remain faithful when everyone else seems to be heading in another direction.

Bible commentators often point out that the narrowness of the gate is not because God is unwilling to save, but because the way of salvation comes through one Person alone—Jesus Christ. We cannot carry our pride, self-sufficiency, or desire to be our own god through that gate. We enter humbly, dependent on Him.

The good news is that while the road may be narrow, it is not lonely. Christ walks with us every step of the way.

If following Jesus sometimes makes you feel different from the world around you, take heart. The goal was never to follow the crowd. The goal has always been to follow the Savior.

Choose the narrow road. It is the only road that leads to true life.

Loving a nation does not mean pretending it is flawless.

Real love tells the truth.
Real faith calls for repentance.
Real hope believes God can still redeem what feels broken.

What moved me most in this conversation was the humility behind the message.

Not denial.
Not outrage.
But a sincere call to seek God again.

Because history alone cannot heal a nation.
Policies cannot restore hearts.
Only repentance can.

And maybe that’s the invitation for all of us right now — not simply to debate the condition of the world around us, but to fall on our knees in prayer and ask God what He wants to do through us.

Every prayer matters.
Every surrendered heart matters.
Every act of obedience matters.

This isn’t just about remembering history.
It’s about responding to this moment with faith, prayer, and courage.

And then one day, they look around and barely recognize the culture they helped shape.

This conversation carries an urgency that is impossible to ignore.

Not fear.
Not politics.
But a wake-up call.

A reminder that faith was never meant to stay hidden inside church walls while the world drifts further from truth.

“Wake up, sleeper.”

Those words linger long after the conversation ends.

Because every generation eventually faces the same question:
Will we stand boldly for Christ while we still can?

There’s something sacred about remembering.

Not pretending the past was perfect.
Not ignoring brokenness or hardship.
But pausing long enough to recognize the faithfulness of God woven through every season.

This week on God-Sized Stories, I sat down with Cynthia Scott to talk about America’s 250th birthday, prayer, spiritual heritage, and why remembering God still matters today.

One thought from our conversation has stayed deeply with me:

“Forgetfulness is often more dangerous than weakness. Weakness has the potential to drive us toward God. But forgetfulness usually convinces us we no longer need Him.”

Maybe that’s why Scripture reminds us again and again:
Do not forget the Lord.

Because remembrance anchors us in gratitude.
It steadies us in uncertain times.
And it reminds us that God has always been faithful.

Somewhere in the very beginning of America’s story… there was a covenant.

Not a political strategy.
Not a search for power.
But a desperate dependence on God.

These early settlers carried more than dreams across the ocean. They carried reverence for Scripture, hunger for biblical truth, and a conviction that the next generation must know the Word of God deeply.

It’s hard to imagine now, isn’t it?

A nation where pastors were honored…
where children learned from the Scriptures at home…
where education was built upon faith instead of separated from it.

And yet, that was part of the foundation.

This conversation stirred something deep in me — because it reminds us that spiritual legacy is never accidental. Someone must choose to preserve truth for the generations coming after us.
