Social media has an algorithm. The internet has an answer. Culture has an opinion.

But none of those things can tell a child the deepest truth about their identity.

In my conversation with Dave Boden, we talked about something that reaches far beyond screen time and technology: the search for identity, purpose, and belonging.

Because underneath so much of what keeps us scrolling and searching is a longing to know: Who am I? Where do I belong? What am I here for?

As parents and the adults who love the next generation, we have an opportunity to enter those conversations—not simply by setting boundaries, but by helping our children discover that they are more than what an algorithm says about them.

They need to know their worth isn't determined by likes, followers, trends, or what the internet thinks they should become.

They need to know who they are.

And sometimes, that begins with an adult willing to sit beside them and ask the right questions.

Our influence isn’t gone.

Dave Boden shared a surprising observation about Gen Alpha: teachers are seeing very young children come into school who instinctively try to swipe or tap the pages of a physical book.

It’s a small moment in this incredible interview, but it points to a much bigger conversation about how screens are shaping the way our children learn, focus, and experience the world.

And now, with tools like ChatGPT able to summarize a book in seconds, we have to ask an even deeper question: What are our children losing when technology does the thinking for them?

Technology itself isn’t the enemy. But our children still need the patience to read, the curiosity to discover, and the ability to wrestle with ideas rather than simply receive answers.

This is part of a much bigger conversation about raising Gen Alpha in a rapidly changing world.

That's the heartbeat of Scarlet Hope.

NEW INTERVIEW ALERT: Some of life's deepest wounds are the ones no one else can see.

They influence the stories we tell ourselves, the relationships we build, and sometimes even the way we believe God sees us.

That was one of the most meaningful parts of my conversation with Rachelle Starr, founder of Scarlet Hope and executive producer of He Calls Me Daughter. We talked about father wounds, identity, and the life-changing truth that our Heavenly Father speaks a different story over our lives.

One thought has stayed with me long after our conversation ended:
The wounds we've carried may explain part of our story, but they were never meant to define it.

It's no longer just something we believe—it's something we live.

Rachelle Starr shared one of the most moving transformations she's witnessed through years of ministry. It isn't simply a change in behavior. It's a change in identity. Women who once felt forgotten, rejected, or unworthy begin to say, "My Father loves me."

Not because someone told them to say it.

Because they finally believe it.

Those three words reveal a heart that has found its home. They speak of belonging, security, and the unshakable love of a Heavenly Father who calls each of us His own.

They quietly shape how we see ourselves, how we trust others, and even how we relate to God. We may spend years trying to earn the love we've always longed for, never realizing that our Heavenly Father has been pursuing us all along.

This week's conversation on God-Sized Stories with Rachelle Starr challenged me to think deeply about the connection between our earthly experiences and our spiritual identity. It's a conversation filled with honesty, hope, and the reminder that healing begins when we allow God's truth to speak louder than our past.

One truth that stayed with me is this:

Our wounds may explain our story, but they don't define our identity.

What happens when fear begins to give way to possibility?

In the communities Water for Good serves, transformation is not limited to a single family or home. As women gain confidence and see new opportunities around them, many begin imagining a different future for themselves.

Water for Good has watched women launch brick-making businesses, plant gardens, open stores, and create new sources of income for their families. In many communities, three or four new women-owned businesses emerge as a result of that shift.

It is a beautiful reminder that when a woman is empowered to build something of her own, the impact reaches far beyond her household. It strengthens the local economy, inspires other women, and helps an entire community move forward.

Fear can keep us focused on survival. Opportunity allows us to begin building.

Dave's story reminded me that sometimes God reshapes our calling by opening our eyes to someone else's reality. When compassion becomes personal, it's difficult to walk away unchanged.

This conversation challenged me to ask a simple question:

What if God is inviting us to notice what we've overlooked?

I hope this conversation encourages you as much as it encouraged me.

But for millions of people around the world, water shapes every part of life. It determines whether children can attend school, families can stay healthy, and communities can thrive.

In my conversation with Dave LeVan of Water for Good, I was reminded that meeting physical needs has always been close to the heart of Jesus. Compassion isn't only about responding to a crisis. It's about walking alongside people long enough to help create lasting change.

One thought especially stayed with me:

Real compassion isn't measured only by what we give today. It's revealed in whether our love remains tomorrow.
