Last Saturday marked a special tradition for the Junior League of Atlanta: we officially welcomed our newest classes of Provisionals and Transfers into JLA!

Our New Member Retreat brought both groups together for a meaningful introduction to the Junior League of Atlanta and the JLA’s work in the Atlanta community. From learning about the history of JLA and its community impact to exploring the JLA experience, the day was filled with connection, inspiration, and excitement for the year ahead.

We’re so excited to welcome our newest members and can’t wait to see all that they will accomplish! 💫

Thanks to the incredible generosity of JLA Sponsor of the Year, Tower Beer, Wine & Spirits ,1000 board books were donated to support JLA’s Every Child Reads Initiative. Through JLA’s partnership with PAACT – Promise All Atlanta Children Thrive and The Georgia Foundation for Early Care & Learning, these books were recently placed into the hands of families at Grady Hospital’s Talk With Me Baby program.

Talk With Me Baby equips parents and caregivers with simple, research-based strategies to talk, read, sing, and engage with their babies from the very start. By encouraging rich language interactions during a child’s earliest years, the program helps build strong brain development and lays the foundation for lifelong learning and literacy.

Real impact happens through partnership. Together, we’re helping to build a strong foundation for Atlanta’s youngest learners, one book and one conversation at a time. 📚

Earlier this summer, JLA invited members and friends of the League to help us adopt two Atlanta Public School classrooms, the first of our Year 110 service drives initiative — and the response was incredible.

Last week, we had the joy of surprising teachers at Perkerson Elementary and Cleveland Avenue Elementary with your generous donations. From notebooks and pencils to other classroom essentials, every donation helped stock teachers’ classrooms and prepare students for a successful start to the school year.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shopped, and supported this effort. Your generosity is already making an impact, and together, we’re helping build an Atlanta where Every Child Reads. 💙📚

As a new school year begins, JLA extends its sincere appreciation to the dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators who inspire, support, and empower students every day. Your commitment to education strengthens our community and helps shape the next generation of leaders.

To all of the students starting a new school year, we wish you a year filled with learning, growth, new opportunities, and lasting memories.

JLA is proud to partner with APS in supporting students and families across the City of Atlanta, and we look forward to another year of making meaningful impact together.

Summer is not slowing the dedication of JLA’s outstanding members! Because of that, we couldn’t pick just one member as our July Volunteer of the Month – we had to pick two! Congratulations to Brandy Edwards and Maren White, JLA’s Journey to Literacy Co-Chairs, on being July’s Volunteers of the Month!

Brandy and Maren were selected for their incredible work organizing JLA’s 40th anniversary birthday party for the children and staff at the Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter! Together, they created a detailed plan for the day, thoughtfully selecting crafts for the children to make, picking age-appropriate books for story time, and assembling fun goodie bags for the children to take home with them after the party. On the day of the event, Maren brought the happiness of Journey to Literacy to the Day Shelter. It was a joyous celebration for JLA volunteers and the Day Shelter’s children and staff, and Brandy and Maren played a tremendous part in bringing the birthday party to life.

Brandy and Maren will share the coveted JLA Volunteer of the Month parking spot for the month of August! Thank you, Brandy and Maren, for being incredible servant leaders and all that you do for JLA!

Find the Good Day — JLA Service Drive Supporting Atlanta Families

To help celebrate 110 years of service to the Atlanta community, JLA is launching service drives that will support our community partners all year long. In September, the Junior League of Atlanta will join Leagues across the country in celebrating AJLI’s Find the Good Day, as well as National Diaper Need Awareness Week. In honor of these observances of collective service, JLA is hosting a service drive benefiting Helping Mamas Atlanta, the Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter, and the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia.

We invite all JLA members and friends of JLA to participate by donating one pack of diapers or one pack of baby wipes. Items may be dropped off at JLA Headquarters no later than Wednesday, September 9th.

If you prefer to give virtually, you can also purchase directly from our Amazon Wish List.

Together, we can find the good and deliver meaningful support to Atlanta families in need!

An evening of meaningful conversations and new connections. ✨

Last night, JLA members gathered for a wonderful Meet & Greet with the 110th Board of Directors and Senior Management Council at the home of JLA Past President and current Representative to the Board, Camille Kesler. A special thank you to JLA’s President’s Operations Committee for coordinating logistics for the evening.

Evenings like last night remind us that leadership is rooted in service and relationships. By coming together, we strengthen the connections that empower us to advance our mission and create lasting impact throughout the City of Atlanta and beyond.

While summer often brings a change of pace, JLA’s commitment to serving our community never takes a season off.

At our inaugural Board of Directors & Senior Management Council Retreat this past March, JLA leaders came together to assemble 150 hygiene kits and write heartfelt cards for the residents of A.G. Rhodes, one of our valued, long-standing community partners. Throughout the League year, members from JLA Handmade also lovingly crafted no-sew blankets to provide an added layer of warmth and comfort. This summer, we were honored to deliver these gifts to A.G. Rhodes residents—small acts of kindness that reflect the lasting impact of collective service.

Moments like these remind us that volunteerism is more than what we do—it’s who we are. Through every season, JLA members continue to lead with compassion, strengthen our community, and make a meaningful difference, one act of service at a time.
