From their first coffee and walk at Chastain Park to exploring JLA’s archives at the Atlanta History Center to brunch at Hampton Social, we love seeing these members who are new to Atlanta learn about JLA, build meaningful connections with each other, and begin making an impact in the Atlanta community. 📚 It’s Georgia Pre-K Week! 🍎

This week, the Junior League of Atlanta is celebrating Georgia Pre-K Week and shining a light on the importance of high-quality early childhood education.

Did you know that Georgia’s nationally recognized Pre-K program provides free, state-funded early learning opportunities for four-year-olds across the state? Through Georgia Pre-K, children are able to build the language, literacy, social, and cognitive skills they need to thrive in Kindergarten and beyond.

As part of JLA’s Every Child Reads Initiative, JLA members are reading in classrooms across Atlanta for Georgia Pre-K Week to champion the importance of early literacy.

Congratulations to Jelece Morris, Community Placement Chair for Agape, on being chosen as JLA’s September’s Volunteer of the Month!

Jelece was selected for her willingness to go above and beyond as Agape’s placement chair this League year. She serves with a wonderful attitude and has been a consistent advocate for Agape. Jelece recently oversaw the September Sustainer Newsletter and Insider spotlights on Agape, obtaining content to ensure a meaningful presentation of the committee’s incredible work.

Thank you, Jelece, for being an incredible servant leader and for your consistent, steady leadership this year! JLA is grateful for Jelece and all of the Community placement chairs, who provide more than 300 members with dedicated monthly opportunities to serve the Atlanta community and make connections!

Happy International Find the Good Day! 🌼💛🌸

On this special day of service and impact, we celebrate the Junior League of Atlanta’s continued dedication to creating positive change and fostering the good that strengthens the Atlanta community.

To recognize this year’s International Find the Good Day, JLA collected and delivered over 25,000 baby diapers and wipes to support Helping Mamas Atlanta, the Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter, and the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia! We are grateful for the generosity of JLA’s members and friends in helping us find the good and make Atlanta a stronger place for families to thrive.

For nearly a decade, JLA members have proudly partnered with Agape Youth & Family Center to support children and families across Atlanta’s Westside. From tutoring and mentoring to monthly dinners, backpack drives, holiday initiatives, and family programs, our members continue to show up in meaningful ways — building relationships, creating connections, and reminding children that they are seen, supported, and valued.

We’re grateful for the JLA members who continue to give their time, talents, and heart to each of our community placements.

Today, we recognize the transformative power of literacy and the role it plays in creating opportunity, strengthening communities, and empowering future generations.

The Junior League of Atlanta believes that every child, in every family, from every neighborhood of Atlanta must have access to the language and literacy skills they need to learn to read, in order to empower the self-determination of Atlanta’s women and children. Through our Every Child Reads Initiative, we engage and mobilize our members around a critical area of impact that builds upon our 110-year legacy of advancing the well-being of women and children throughout the Atlanta community.

This International Literacy Day, we celebrate the educators, families, volunteers, and community partners who help make possibilities a reality and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every child in Atlanta has the opportunity to read, learn, and thrive.
