Every year, PBPA celebrates our most generous donors with the Happy Perkins Society Breakfast, presented by Southern Company. This giving society recognizes those who have contributed $1,000 or more to PBPA in the past year and we were thrilled to honor our 2025–2026 cohort!

We were joined by Jeremy Lewis, Executive Director of Urban Recipe who shared how PBPA's work directly benefits and advances their incredible mission.

The Happy Perkins Society is named for Happy Perkins, retired GE Power General Counsel, who helped lead the effort to bring PBPA to Atlanta in 2005. Members contribute at least $1,000 annually and receive special opportunities to network and volunteer through PBPA. Ready to join? Awardee Spotlight: LCU Challenge Award

At each Legal Check Up clinic, PBPA challenges the participating law firm and legal department to take on a set number of the legal matters that are identified at the clinic. Some of the Legal Check Up teams exceed that challenge, and this award is presented to the team that exceeds it by the most matters.

This year’s winner of the Legal Check Up Challenge Cup blew away our challenge to take 20 matters by taking 46! And the winner is the team of Cox, Smurfit WestRock and Eversheds Sutherland!

Awardee Spotlight: Legal Department of the Year

PBPA had volunteers from about 60 legal departments in 2025, but we’d like to recognize the Home Depot as our Legal Department of the Year.
We can always count on Home Depot volunteers to take projects. In fact, over 100 Home Depot associates have volunteered with PBPA, but they had a particularly good year in 2025.

Thank you Home Depot!

Awardee Spotlight: Law Firm of the Year

More than 80 law firms took on PBPA projects in 2025, but there are always a few that stand out in the involvement of their attorneys. This year, we would like to recognize Ogletree Deakins.

With employment projects being ever-plentiful and ever-difficult to place, we are so grateful to the lawyers at Ogletree Deakins who make pro bono service a priority.

We’ve had 50 volunteers from Ogletree Deakins, and that’s particularly impressive since there are 51 attorneys in the Atlanta office .

Thank you, Ogletree Deakins!

Awardee Spotlight: Volunteer of the Year

Last but certainly not least, PBPA recognized Mark Littmann and Whitney Garrett Smith together as Volunteers of the Year. Mark and Whitney are both attorneys at Chick-fil-A and work together on the Chick-fil-A Pro Bono Committee. Each of them has personally volunteered for about 15 pro bono projects with PBPA. And both Mark and Whitney have taken leadership roles in engaging their Chick-fil-A colleagues in pro bono projects, planning legal clinics and even coordinating a promotional video for PBPA!

Thank you, Mark and Whitney, and congratulations!
