Yes, I was named in fun- I am anything but a beast! I am handsome, very, very sweet, loyal, I love people and other dogs, I make cute piggy snorting noises when I get hugs, and I have an unlimited supply of kisses - everything you could want in a big-headed pittie. And, boy do I have a big head- everyone that meets me says it is the biggest they have ever seen! I am so happy to have you as a frien
d! My FB page was started when I was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Georgia and I was looking for a forever home. I also had to go through a very painful surgery to fix my bad legs. I found so many wonderful people on FB who cared about me and helped the rescue make sure I had the treatment I needed. I am all better now, and am living with my forever family who loves me to the moon and back! Because I made such good friends here, I try to spread happiness by sharing stories of dogs like me who have been saved from bad endings and are either looking for or have found their forever homes. Also, I will occasionally share stories of mine and my brother's silly antics, although my life is pretty normal now. I sure do hope that you enjoy my stories! I feel like I am a very special boy to have sooooooo many people who love me now. If you want want to know more about how "The Legend" began, this is my story:
I am a lucky boy, but things have always been so great for me. I lived at a house that didn't give me the care I needed. I was never allowed outside my yard, so one day my girlfriend and I snuck out of our house to go see some of the pretty places in Atlanta that we had heard of. I know I wasn't suppose to do that, but I was young and just wanted to have some fun. I quickly got tired from running, so some people from a place called "animal control" picked up my friend and I up and brought us to a very scary place. I didn't mind too much, though- everyone was super nice, and gave me lots of attention, which I really, really like. The nice officers called my family, but I guess they didn't think I was worth the fee to get me out of "doggy jail", so they never showed up to take me home. My rescuer and my family both say that was their gain! When my rescuer first met me at animal control, she didn't think I could walk because I when she called me to the gate of my cage, I dragged my back legs behind me. You see, I was bred to be "the ideal" pit bull, and with that came bum legs that caused me a whole lot of pain. She took a chance on me anyway- when she came to put a leash on me, I surprised her by standing up. She then realized that I COULD walk, it just hurt me a lot. So she took me home from that bad place, and got me to a vet. They determined that I had terrible knee problems- not only were my Anterior Cruciate Ligaments torn, but my kneecaps were not lined up properly. I needed major surgery on both legs to correct this, and to allow me to run and play like a normal dog. Because I was a playful puppy, but it hurt for me to do this, my rescuer put out a plea for a home without other dogs where I could quietly recover from my surgery. My now Mommy & Daddy saw my story, and offered to help. You see, they had 2 furry children for many years before. They lost both of their boys, Bandit & Cody, to cancer and were still very sad. They were not ready to adopt another pup, but had been through ACL surgery with Bandit (twice), so they knew what to expect and could help me get better. So I went to live with them for a short time (so they thought...) Well, the doctors had thought I was older than I was- my big head fooled them. They realized that I wasn't done growing, so I had to wait for surgery...and wait...and wait. Meanwhile, Mommy wanted to help the rescue who found me find money to do my surgery because it was going to be REALLY expensive. That is when she started this FB page so I could share my stories with my friends. Wouldn't you know it...there are many amazing and generous people out there, and so many of them are now my friends! By the time I had my first surgery, enough people had donated money that my surgery was all paid for! My first surgery was so successful that my doctor felt we could wait to operate on my second leg. Because I am still young, everyone thought it wasn't fair to keep me on bed rest for another 4-6 months unless absolutely necessary. So, one day I will probably have to have surgery again, but for now I am living my dream of running and playing! To meet me now, you would never know that I at one time could barely walk. During the time I had to wait for my surgery, my Mommy and Daddy realized how much they loved me, and that they could never, ever, EVER let me go, so....THEY ADOPTED ME!!! That means I get to live with them forever! During this time, a silly red pup showed up on our doorstep one day and barked at the front door. When Mommy opened the door to see what was going on, he bounded in wanting to play with me. We loved each other right away, and he wasn't scared to play with me (because of my size) like most dogs. So he became my brother, Linus, and he gets to live with us forever too! I promised all my friends that if I got better, in return I would give everyone big slobbery (virtual) kiss. I would have done that even if I didn't get all better- I'm a bully, after all. I also promised that if everyone helped my legs get better, I will be a good boy forever, and try REALLY HARD not to get into mischief, and would unconditionally love my forever family. And most of all, I promised that I will always remember and be grateful to all those wonderful people who helped me get better! Well, I am very busy trying to keep all those promises, and that's why I share my happy stories. Thank you again, Friends, for all you have done for me- you have most definitely changed my life for the better! Love and Licks Forever,
Mr. Beastly
P.S. My Friends are so wonderful, they even made me a celebrity! I was featured in the Fall 2012 edition of "American Dog Magazine" and named a "Famous Dog on Facebook with Friends"! Check it out...
