Hurricane Maria Relief Effort - Georgia Tech

Hurricane Maria Relief Effort - Georgia Tech Diáspora PResente is a Georgia Tech team composed by students, faculty, and staff that works tirelessly to assist Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

Only two weeks after a strike by the Category 5 Hurricane Irma, the island of Puerto Rico faced the fury of Hurricane Maria. This monster hurricane stormed the island with sustained winds of 165 mph and gusts of up to 215 mph, leaving 100% of the island without power, very limited communication and major damage to the general infrastructure, forcing the local government to declare Puerto Rico in a

“state of emergency”. Our team is composed by students, faculty and staff members at the Georgia Institute of Technology. We are part of the Puerto Rican diaspora that is committed to help in rebuilding our motherland.

Dear all... Happy Holidays!!!

Two updates!

(1) This last Saturday Dec 16th, we donated $2,000 to the Organization Contigo Puerto Rico. This donation will assist in paying the delivery of our collected goods to Puerto Rico.

(2) The check presented here was sent to the organization "Operation Boricua - Helping Puerto Rico one plane load at a time". This organization run by Fam. Canales helped us to deliver the first group of donations back in October. We will be contributing to fuel cost of their upcoming trip in January.

Shout out to this amazing people who are still tirelessly working to help Puerto Rico recover from Hurricane Maria!!!

These are the two heroes who are delivering our goods to Puerto Rico. Julio Canales is a Delta pilot who is using his private plane to help our Puerto Rican community. His wife Aubry Canales will be with us tomorrow Saturday to load two U-haul trucks and get everything to the airport. Do NOT miss this!!

Pilot Julio Canales is on a mission -- flying his own plane full of supplies to communities in Puerto Rico hit hard by Hurricane Maria.
