Today, we pause to remember the 49 beautiful lives stolen on June 12, 2016, at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

Pulse was more than a nightclub. It was a sanctuary. A place where LGBTQ+ people, particularly Latinx LGBTQ+ people, gathered in community, joy, love, and belonging.

Ten years later, we continue to honor those we lost by speaking their names, protecting our communities, and standing firmly against hatred, violence, and discrimination in all its forms.

At The Global Trans Equity Project, we remember not only the tragedy, but also the resilience, love, and unity that emerged in its wake. May we never forget the lives taken, the families forever changed, and the responsibility we each carry to build a world where every person can live openly, safely, and authentically.

Countless lives changed.
Forever remembered.

This Memorial Day, we honor the lives, courage, and sacrifice of all who served our nation. 🇺🇸

At The Global Trans Equity Project - GTEP, we also pause to recognize the countless transgender service members and veterans whose dedication to this country has too often gone unseen, unrecognized, or politicized. Many answered the call to serve with honor, integrity, and love for this nation, despite serving through systems that did not always honor them in return.

Today we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We also hold space for the many transgender veterans whose military careers, benefits, stability, and sense of belonging were impacted by discriminatory policies and ongoing attacks on transgender service members.

Memorial Day is not only about remembrance. It is also about responsibility. A responsibility to ensure that every person willing to serve this country is treated with dignity, humanity, and respect.

At GTEP, we remain committed to advocating for transgender veterans, advancing health and equity, and ensuring that the stories and sacrifices of trans service members are never erased from the history of this nation.

We honor you.
We remember you.
We will continue the fight for equity and justice in your name. ❤️🤍💙

At our recent Global Trans Equity Project Monthly Meet Up for Transgender Men, something became clear very quickly. What people needed most right now was not advice, not strategy, not resilience training.

They needed a place to exhale. Period.

Facilitated with care, compassion, and intention by Graison Golden and Jacobi Gray, the space became a reminder that safe community is not a luxury. It is infrastructure. It is mental health care. It is survival.

What surfaced in this virtual space mirrors what we are seeing across the country. Transgender people are carrying a heavy emotional and mental load in this moment. And yet, when supported with holistic resources and spaces rooted in trust, vulnerability, and dignity, trans people remain resilient, grounded, and powerful.

Our Founder. Dr. Elijah Nicholas wrote about this experience, the supporting data behind it, and why intentionally facilitated community spaces are becoming lifelines right now.
