It is THE most important moment of their life.

Why?

Because the few moments inside the sale ring determine whether they end up in the hands of a kill buyer, to be sold for meat and shipped across the border to be slaughtered in Mexico.
It is especially crucial for wild horses like Ivy.

The auction happened on Sunday.

There are many wild horses that were sold to the kill buyer. We have ONE opportunity to keep America’s Wild Horses from slaughter!

We have a wild horse family of 13 left on our list to save by tomorrow’s deadline. We can’t help them out of the slaughter pipeline and give them sanctuary for life without your help!

He still hides beside his momma when he’s afraid.

This little boy presses himself closer to Maple like she can somehow make everything okay again.

And she tries.

Even standing ankle deep in mud.
Even exhausted.
Even with fear written all over her face.

Still watches over him.
Still carries the weight of being his safe place.

That’s what broke me about these two….

Not just the sadness in their eyes…
but the way they cling to one another because they know they only have each other right now.

Tomorrow the trucks are scheduled to arrive.

Unless we can save Maple and her baby before then, their story could end before this little boy ever gets the chance to run free next to his momma again.

They never should have been rounded up in the first place.

We are fighting to pull this family of 14 to safety before time runs out.

But we cannot do it alone.

They are just babies….

They should be running across open space with their families beneath big western skies.

Instead, Linen & Lace are standing ankle deep in sludge owned by a kill buyer after being sold directly for slaughter.

Quiet.
Defeated.
Exhausted.

Watching them walk in step with one another broke me because even now… they still find comfort in staying close together.

They don’t understand what’s happening around them.
They just know they have each other.

We are fighting to save as many horses from this rescue mission as possible before shipping begins again tomorrow.

The USDA confirmed to us via email this morning that the slaughterhouse CAN accept imports if they choose to, with just a few paperwork amendments. The kill buyer here has lined everything out with the plant. Horses have been being sorted and chipped all day today in order to go out tomorrow.

SO… right now every second matters. We have 14 wild souls left on our list to save before tomorrow evening.

I was walking the pens to see which horses the kill buyer bought, and I found an incredibly muddy pen PACKED with reservation mustangs that I hadn’t seen all weekend. They had just been dropped off.

They didn’t get the chance to go through the sale. They were sold directly for slaughter.

They carry the essence of the colorful ponies that have dotted the western landscape for centuries.

Reservation Mustangs are the most vulnerable to being rounded up and sold for slaughter because they have no federal protection whatsoever.

No one knows how many of them are rounded up each year, and no one knows what goes on at those round ups, because there are no regulations.

They can be ran for miles, pushed by dirtbike or fourwheeler or roped and drug into barbwire catch pens or pens made of random materials lying around.

These are not stories from the imagination- I’ve seen these pens with my own eyes and heard the stories from the very men rounding the horses up off of their reservations.

They are living legends of the American West, treated like rodents.

This group is dwindled down to skeletal frames standing in sludge, packed together with their defeated heads hung low.

They are just ghosts of the majestic animals, they are meant to be.

We are prepared to save as many of them as we can, but we don’t have long to help them.

Just 31 hours remain.

They have no idea what’s going to happen to them now.

Their future? No future at all. They’ll be taken to Mexico together to be turned into meat to be exported to Asia for people to eat.

We really connected with scared Trinity & Divinity over the auction weekend, and we’re fighting hard to bring them to sanctuary.

It’s not fair that they ended up here. It’s not fair that since they’re not trained to ride they die.

We have a different future in mind… one filled with freedom and green pastures.

We have 15 horses left to save before tomorrow evening.

From Friday evening, I promised Sarge that he would once again run free across endless fields of green grass with his friends.

He is a BIG mustang, rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management. He is one of the most scared mustangs I’ve ever seen on any of our rescue missions to the biggest equine slaughter export facility.

His wild runs DEEP. It shines bright in his eyes.

Yet he looks through my soul as an old friend. He knows that I will get him help. He knows I will rally this community and do all I can to be able to bring him home and give him the freedom his very soul craves.

Oh how magnificent he would be running across thousands of acres…that’s the stuff of dreams.

We have just 46 hours left to make that promise a reality. We have $85,819 left to raise to give 35 wild would their freedom back, for LIFE.

The way she nudges him like that 🥹

This looks like a romantic scene of two horse cartoon characters falling in love until you realize what’s actually going on here…

These are young wild horses who were rounded up from their homes. They are still young enough that they SHOULD have their mommas to lean on for comfort, safety, and learning how to be a horse.

But their moms are nowhere to be found. They were just sold in one of Texas largest horse auctions, owned by the largest exporter of horses for the horse meat market in Asia.

We secured Saffron’s life yesterday, but Honey was sold to the kilbuyer.

Today we are on a mission to save her life, and the lives of all 35 wild horses on our rescue list that we met over the weekend.

We have 48 hours left to save as many as we can raise the funds to give sanctuary for life. That’s IT.

So far, 17 horses on our list are safe. The other 18’s lives are NOT SAFE.

That brand on her neck means the U.S. government once claimed her as a protected wild mustang.

So how did she end up here — depressed, defeated, days away from slaughter?

Because wild horses are in the way of subsidized cattle grazing on public land. In the way of mining interests that want that land cleared.

So they're rounded up by the thousands, given pseudo “federal protection” with tons of legal loopholes that allows people to make money off of selling them into the slaughter pipeline — and then they end up here.

At the end of the line. A slaughter export facility.

My heart sank when I saw Cairo get off the trailer for the auction.

No one wants horses like her, wild and skinny and scarred.

She reminded me of our sweet Cleo, who was even skinner back in August when we rescued her.

Right now she’s eating lush green grass with her best friends as the birds sing 🎶

But Cairo? She’s standing in disease riddled pens, waiting to be exported across the border to become horse meat on someone’s dinner plate in Asia.

We want to bring her to sanctuary and heal her like Cleo. There are 19 wild horses left on our list that need our help.

🚨WILD HORSES AT RISK OF SLAUGHTER 🚨

American icons, discarded and headed for the border to become meat ‼️

We have 35 precious souls on our list to save RIGHT NOW during our June rescue mission, and most of them are still highly at risk….

Two cases of new world screw worm have temporarily shut down the border— but does that mean these horses are safe? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

Euthanasia is a very real possibility as these slaughter buyers are all about profit- if they have to feed a horse for too long, there is no profit left to be made off of that horse and no reason for the horses to continue living!

Insider information also claims that the border will be reopen for exports in just a few days. Whenever the border opens, the horses WILL be shipped, and after a period of likely being underfed or suffering sicknesses and disease in the kill pens from being there a prolonged period of time.

NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO STOP FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES.
