GACC South is a private, non-profit organization and serves as the official representative of German Territories – Puerto Rico and the U.S.

The GACC South is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with a branch office in Houston, Texas. The GACC South serves eleven Southern states – Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, two U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as the Bahamas. In addition, five local chapters located in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas support the region, as well as our two affiliates the German American Business Chamber of South Florida (GABC) in Miami, Florida and the AlabamaGermany Partnership (AGP) in Birmingham, Alabama. What does German-American innovation look like on the ground? A recent visit to OCULUS Surgical in Port St. Lucie, Florida, offered a closer look.

Our Florida Leadership Chapter Director Tobias Borawski, together with Christofer Burger, German Consul General, and Alexander Vogt of the German Consulate, visited OCULUS Surgical for a behind-the-scenes tour hosted by Michael Ansorge, CEO of OCULUS Surgical.

🏭 The highlight? A tour of the company's impressive 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, which opened its doors in 2025. Bringing together manufacturing, distribution, and support operations within a Foreign-Trade Zone, the site demonstrates the company's commitment to innovation and growth in Florida.

A global leader in advanced visualization technologies for ophthalmic and vitreoretinal surgery, OCULUS Surgical develops specialized solutions that support critical surgical procedures worldwide.

Beyond technology and infrastructure, the visit also highlighted the importance of skilled technical talent as the company continues to strengthen its operations and workforce.

Two states. Seven German companies. Three days of transatlantic e-mobility exchange.

From Nashville to Northern Alabama, our E-Mobility Business Delegation connected German technology providers with key players across the U.S. Southeast’s automotive, battery, energy, and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

🔋 Nashville: A Tennessee Market Briefing and Executive Business Roundtable at Baker Donelson brought together representatives from industry, research, utilities, government, and regional organizations to discuss battery storage, charging infrastructure, automotive manufacturing, research, and opportunities for stronger German-U.S. cooperation. The delegation also visited Vanderbilt University / ICONS for insights into data-driven mobility research and the I-24 MOTION project, followed by targeted B2B meetings.

🏭 Northern Alabama: At Alabama Robotics Technology Park / AIDT, the delegation gained insights into automation, workforce development, and advanced manufacturing, while meetings with companies including Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. and Bocar US created further opportunities for business exchange.

From market insights to direct industry conversations, the program was all about connecting German innovation with U.S. opportunities and strengthening long-term transatlantic business relationships in e-mobility.
