IBM QCC Golf Outing Monday May 6, 2024
Ladies and Gentleman, let's get our game on and return to golf outings for our group. After watching the Masters this weekend with all the IBM commercials and Scottie Scheffler winning the Masters, you all must be juiced up and ready to go.

We have arranged to play at Steel Canyon Golf Course, Sandy Springs starting at 10:00 AM, Monday May 6th. The course has 4 par 4's, 1 par 5 and the balance par 3's. So a shorter course but still has many challenging holes and nice greens. And we can finish in 2.5 - 3 hours, which is nice as well.

The normal fee is $37 + tax per round but thanks to Carolyn Axt's contact of the course director, we are able to play for $30 + tax and further good news, you will be responsible for $25 and the QCC budget will take care of the balance. How can you beat that!!!

After we finish golfing we will meet at a local restaurant to have lunch and review the results and announce the winners.

Contact Bob Haskins at 404 384 3953 or [email protected] and please get signed up using the Google Forms RSVP link below as soon as possible, at least before Monday, April 29:

By the way, I learned to golf as a child on the IBM Golf Courses in Johnson City, New York. Played there many many times.

Thanks, look forward to seeing you there.

Entrepreneur Seminar on Saturday (1:30pm - 3:30pm), 3/23/24
Dear IBM Atlanta QCC Members:

Our IBM QCC will be co-hosting an Entrepreneur Seminar with 4 other local Atlanta organizations on Saturday (from 1:30pm - 3:30pm), 3/23/24 at the Culture Center of TECO in Atlanta. The writeup below and the attached flyer have the details for this event. It is a free seminar and opens to the public. Hope to see many IBM QCC members and their children/grandchildren at this seminar on 3/23/24.

Many people dream about starting their own businesses, but not many have succeeded. According to information on the internet, "The success rate of starting your own business can vary depending on various factors such as industry, location, market conditions, and your own skills and dedication. Generally, around 20% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open, around 45% during the first five years, and around 65% during the first ten years. However, success is possible with careful planning, market research, a solid business model, perseverance, and adaptability."

To help our community start and maintain a successful business, TCCGG will co-host an Entrepreneur seminar with 4 other local organizations (GFCBW-ATL, MJSTA-SE, IBM Atlanta QCC, TAP-ATL) on Saturday (1:30pm - 3:30pm), March 23 at the Culture Center of TECO in Atlanta - (5377 New Peachtree Rd, Chamblee, GA 30341).

Our esteemed speakers below will share their invaluable insights, experiences, and advice to inspire and guide aspiring entrepreneurs on their journey. The speakers will reflect on their entrepreneurial journey, sharing the challenges they encountered and how they overcame them.

They will impart practical advice and actionable strategies for our attendees, including tips for starting and scaling a successful business. You will also gain insights into the key benefits and rewards of entrepreneurship, from financial success to personal fulfillment.

Kai Hsu - CEO of HotSauce Technologies, Fintech Industry
Birel Patel - CEO of Biren Patel Engineering, Energy/Power Industry
Meade Sutterfield - Entrepreneur, Angel and Private Equity Investor

We will conduct this seminar in-person only and also in English language entirely.

Dear IBM Atlanta QCC Members/Spouses/Friends:

Happy Sunday. My apologies for the delay in sending these pictures to you. I must have caught some kind of Asian virus (not Covid) from my 21-day trip to Taiwan in January. With the powerful western antibiotics, I have been feeling better.

Thank you all very much for attending our Chinese New Year luncheon on 2/9/24; we had a total of 56 attendees. Hope everyone had a wonderful time talking with your QCC colleagues/friends and enjoyed the good Chinese/Japanese food at the Nori Nori. Congratulations to all the winners of the fun Trivia Questions contest and raffle prizes.

Our next QCC event will be visiting the Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville on Thursday morning, March 21st. You will soon receive the announcement on this tour from George Turner & Carolyn Hampton this week. Hope to see many of you there.

Chinese New Year Luncheon on Friday (11:30am - 2:30pm), February 9th, 2024
Dear Atlanta QCC Members:

Happy New Year (新年快樂 - Xīn nián kuài lèr). The official 2024 Chinese New Year will be on Saturday, February 10th. This is the year of Dragon. According to Chinese astrology, people born in dragon years are predicted to be:

· Gifted with innate courage, tenacity, and intelligence. Dragons are enthusiastic and confident. They are not afraid of challenges, and willing to take risks.

· However, Dragons are sometimes regarded as aggressive and are not open to criticism. They don't consider themselves irritating and arrogant. Instead of following tradition, they strive for a smooth future.

Here are the years for people born in the Dragon years: 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952, 1940, 1928, 1916.
