Another incredible day of serving our community! 💙💛

This year’s Burgers & Backpacks was more than a school supply giveaway….it was a reminder of what’s possible when neighbors, partners, and volunteers come together with one purpose.

Hundreds of students headed into the new school year with backpacks, school supplies, smiles, and the encouragement to dream big. Families enjoyed food, fellowship, and a day centered around community, all while honoring the legacy of Able “Mable” Thomas, whose commitment to serving others continues to inspire this work.

Thank you to every volunteer, sponsor, community partner, and supporter who helped make this day possible. Because of you, students across Atlanta’s Westside are beginning the school year knowing their community is behind them.

Here’s to another year of investing in our children, strengthening our neighborhoods, and proving that service is one of the greatest gifts we can give.

Happy Father’s Day from My Fellow Man International!

Today we celebrate fathers, father figures, mentors, grandfathers, uncles, coaches, and every man who has embraced the responsibility of helping to shape the next generation. Fatherhood is more than a title. It is sacrifice, presence, protection, wisdom, patience, and love in action.

On this Father’s Day, we offer a special salute to our founder, Mr. Johnny Mims. Johnny represents the very best of what fatherhood looks like. Not only has he been a devoted father to his own children, but he has also poured into countless young people throughout the community, serving as a mentor, guide, encourager, and example. His impact extends far beyond bloodlines.

The reality is that some of the greatest fathers continue to love, support, teach, and give even when their sacrifices are overlooked or their efforts are not always appreciated. Yet they keep showing up. They keep believing. They keep building. Johnny Mims is one of those men.

Today, we honor his unwavering commitment, his servant leadership, and the legacy he continues to create through every life he touches. Thank you, Mr. Mims, for being the kind of man who stands in the gap, lifts others higher, and demonstrates what true fatherhood looks like.

We see you. We celebrate you. We thank God for you.

It is impossible to defend lies, so we will not even try. Instead, we choose to invest our energy in doing what we do best: supporting the community.

Johnny Mims founded the nonprofit My Fellow Man, which simply means “My Fellow Human Being.” The organization’s mission is rooted in serving others and strengthening our community through action, not words.

My Fellow Man supports youth in many ways. We have consistently provided support to the Bankhead Boys & Girls Club for years and will continue to do so, even when others have chosen not to.

Beyond programs and resources, we strive to teach young people the value of altruism long before they know the word or its definition. We teach simple principles such as saying “please” and “thank you,” showing respect, and helping others.

Our prayer is that when these children become adults, they will remember to thank God for every blessing, no matter how small, and choose gratitude over entitlement. We believe strong communities are built when people carry themselves as decent human beings and prioritize humility, compassion, and love.

We pulled up to Harper Archer Elementary, Douglas High, Washington High, and Mays High with one mission….to remind our teachers that they are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated.

Through the My Fellow Man Educator Appreciation Awards, founded in the spirit of our founder Johnny Mims , we showed love in a tangible way….self-care checks and restaurant gift cards to honor the people who pour into our children every single day.

Thank you to our partners Mulan’s Restaurant and Girl Diver, and to every supporter who gives to My Fellow Man. This work only happens because a community chooses to care.

Because without teachers….what would the world be?
They are often underappreciated and undervalued, and it’s up to us to show up and be the support we want to see.

A few smiles….a few surprises….and a whole lot of gratitude.

My Fellow Man had the honor of visiting Harper Archer Elementary, Douglass High, Washington High, and Mays High to present our Educator Appreciation Awards. Through the vision of our founder, Johnny Mims, we were able to bless teachers with self-care checks and restaurant gift cards as a small thank-you for the big work they do every day.

We had a wonderful time at the My Fellow Man Annual Toy Giveaway at Lindsey Street Baptist Church.
Grateful for the warmth, hospitality, and leadership of Rev. & First Lady Motley, and for a church that opens its doors wide to community joy.

This is what it looks like when love is organized and generosity shows up with intention.
My Fellow Man, taking it one family at a time, one child at a time, one neighborhood at a time.
Smiles, laughter, Santa sightings, and a whole lot of hope filled the room.

Thankful for every volunteer, every donor, and every helping hand that made this day unforgettable.
Because when community comes together, everybody wins.
