Mr. Boudreaux, a high school math teacher, joined our “All About Skittles” workshop and now he wants to become a science teacher 👀😂

In this session, teachers became the students and used common household items to test whatever they wanted to investigate about a pack of Skittles.

At CRSci, our activities always center affordability, cultural relevance, and rigor. Science should feel engaging, accessible, and fun without sacrificing high level learning. 🔬

Meet De’Ovion…

a former CRSci student from 8 years ago who is about to graduate college and become a Teach For America educator!

This is such a full circle moment, as our founder, Meagan Naraine, was also a Teach For America teacher when she taught De’Ovion years ago.

Watching former students grow into educators themselves is exactly why this work matters. Representation matters. Relationships matter. And investing in students matters.

We are beyond proud of De’Ovion and cannot wait to see the impact she will make in education. 🍎

A few weeks ago, we kicked off our brand new partnership with the Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s STEAM Lab.

We will be there each month, bringing cost-effective and genuinely engaging science activities to the community.

Join us for the next session on May 9 🔬🙌🏽

Our team partnered with Next Gen Atlanta to host a STEAM exposure experience for high school students.

After grounding students in what STEAM is and the careers it can lead to, we shifted straight into action. Students designed, tested, and iterated their own cars.

The joy, perseverance, and even frustration were all part of the process and exactly what STEAM should feel like.

Thank you Next Gen Atlanta for the opportunity to work with and inspire their students!

CRSci is in its building-a-team era, and we do not just let anyone into our family. It is truly an honor to share these childhood photos of the incredible team we are building.

These kids grew up to help inspire future generations of kids to have confidence in STEM.

Can you guess who is who?

Excited to host a student session with Georgia State University at Atlanta Science Festival’s BYTES + AI Summit!

Culturally Relevant Science will lead a hands-on activity where students design, build, and launch their own straw rockets while exploring the science behind flight and the engineering design process. 🚀

Our Director of Learning and several CRSci board members will also be at the event, speaking on panels and supporting students throughout the event!

8th grade boys in science class.
Now juniors presenting at the district science fair.

Lucas, Teraze, and Michael first learned science with our founder, Meagan Naraine, in middle school. From the beginning, she built classrooms grounded in rigor, relevance, and student voice.

Students were not just completing labs. They were defending ideas, leading discussions, and seeing themselves as scientists.

Years later, watching them confidently present their research is a reminder that culturally relevant teaching creates long-term impact.

This is the foundation CRSci was built on.

As Black History Month comes to a close, we’re highlighting five Black scientists whose work spans chemistry, biology, physics, environmental science, and Earth systems. Each connects directly to real classroom standards and real instructional moments.

The month may be ending, but representation belongs in our classrooms all year long.

Save this for your next unit and tag a teacher who needs it. ✊🏾🔬

We are excited to share that we will be presenting at Teach For America Metro Atlanta’s Education Empowerment Summit on March 20th.

This year’s theme, Spark Change Through Collective Power, feels especially timely. We will be leading a session on how to intentionally combine identity, inquiry, and literacy in science classrooms to deepen engagement and rigor.

If you work in education or care about the future of our students, this is a summit you do not want to miss.

Register today at www.teachforamerica.org/ees. We hope to see you there.

March will be BUSY for CRSci and none of it would be possible without our Director of Learning, LaDonna Jones.

Today we turned our usual virtual weekly meeting into an in-person brunch to celebrate her properly. New team crewneck. New laptop. Same incredible leadership.

As we continue to scale as a growing organization, it is important that our team feels supported, valued, and like family while doing the work they love. Building strong systems matters. Building strong people matters more.

Thank you, LaDonna, for everything you pour into our students, teachers, and community. We are excited to keep building with you.
