Another wonderful year at the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute (NHCI) Patient & Care Partner Education Conference! đź’ś

Harriett’s Daughters was proud to once again participate as a Community Partner, marking our third (or maybe fourth!) year being part of this important event.

We’re always grateful for opportunities to share the work of Harriett’s Daughters and connect with patients, care partners, families, healthcare professionals, and fellow community organizations.

A special thank you to our Board members Kayla and Sarita for representing Harriett’s Daughters at our table and sharing our mission with everyone who stopped by. 💜

Please join us in welcoming Marie Papini to our Board of Directors! đź’ś

Marie Papini is a Licensed Professional Counselor, EMDR-certified therapist, and owner of Papini Counseling, LLC. She works with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges. With 17 years of experience as a professional school counselor before transitioning to private practice, Marie brings a wealth of knowledge in youth mental health, trauma-informed care, and supporting individuals through life’s most difficult moments.

In addition to her clinical work, Marie provides training and consultation for schools and community organizations, equipping adults with practical strategies to better support children and adolescents. Her commitment to fostering resilience, meaningful connection, and hope makes her a wonderful addition to our Board of Directors.

We’re honored to welcome Marie to the Harriett’s Daughters family and look forward to the compassion, expertise, and leadership she brings to our mission.

Last Sunday, we had the joy of celebrating three remarkable young women at our 2026 ScholarShower.

It was an afternoon filled with encouragement, community, and celebration as we recognized their accomplishments and the bright futures ahead of them.

We are grateful to our families, supporters, volunteers, current and former board members, community partners, and sponsors whose generosity and belief in our mission help make opportunities like this possible.

Special thanks to Dignity Memorial and Stanton Law for their support of this year’s event. We are also grateful to our event planning team, our DJ RASYRIOUS , and Aqualite Photography & Film for helping create such a memorable experience for our recipients and their families.

Please join us in welcoming Kayla Peeples as the newest member of the Harriett’s Daughters Board of Directors, serving as Board Secretary. 💜

Kayla is deeply committed to supporting young girls and women through grief healing, connection, and community. Her heart for service, belief in our mission, and desire to create meaningful impact make her a wonderful addition to the Harriett’s Daughters family.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Georgia and remains actively involved in her community. Outside of her professional and community work, Kayla describes herself as a “Golden Girls super watcher” and enjoys decompressing by putting together puzzles.

Most importantly, Kayla believes deeply in the work we do and the girls and families we serve. We are truly excited for all she will bring to our organization.

Mother’s Day can bring up so many different emotions, and today we’re thinking about all of them. 💜

We hope everyone who is celebrating, remembering, grieving, honoring, caregiving, or simply making it through the day has felt supported and surrounded by love in some way.

At Harriett’s Daughters®, we especially hold close the girls and families navigating maternal cancer, loss, treatment, and grief. To the daughters missing their mothers today, and to those walking beside a mother through illness, we see you and we’re thinking of you.

We also want to acknowledge the fathers, grandparents, family members, mentors, and mother figures who continue showing up with love, care, and consistency. Your presence matters more than words can fully express.

For some, today was joyful. For others, it was heavy. For many, it was both at the same time.

No matter what today looked like for you, we hope you felt loved, supported, and not quite so alone. đź’ś

We’re gathering for a relaxed community walk along the BeltLine in support of the mission of Harriett’s Daughters.

We are incredibly thankful, grateful, and truly honored to share that Harriett’s Daughters was selected to receive a $12,500 grant from Dignity Memorial.

Out of more than 40 submissions, Harriett’s Daughters was selected as the top grant recipient. This recognition means so much to our organization and, most importantly, to the girls and families we serve. We were notified in October, and the grant was officially awarded in December.

These funds will support our Scholar Gift Program, mentoring program, grief counseling services, and general operating needs. This support allows us to continue providing meaningful, wraparound care to girls who have experienced the death of their mothers.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Sarita Martin, a member of our Board of Directors, for submitting our organization for consideration.

For Dignity Memorial providers, there is no greater honor than helping to remember a life lived. Their commitment to listening, caring, and guiding families through life’s most difficult moments aligns deeply with our mission.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone involved in making this grant possible. This support truly matters to our organization and to the girls and families we are honored to serve. đź’ś
