❤️ LOOK HOW FAR RACHEAL HAS COME

It has been a little while since we've shared an update on Racheal, and this time Casey and Racheal asked us to share something with you themselves—a photo and video showing just how hard Racheal continues to work.

This is what determination looks like.

Racheal is growing stronger every day. She still has a couple more weeks of healing before she is expected to be ready to transition to a rehabilitation center, where she'll continue rebuilding her strength and mobility and eventually begin the process of learning to use a prosthetic.

There is still an enormous road ahead.

But when you watch Racheal push herself in this video—and then see her smiling beside her son Ford—you understand exactly what she's fighting for.

She's fighting for herself. For Casey. For Reagan. And for Ford. ❤️

The family is even beginning to have conversations about the future—whether that means making their current home accessible for Racheal or eventually relocating to a ranch-style home that may better accommodate her mobility needs.

We're also grateful to share another example of your donations at work.

On September 2, the Atlanta Professional Fire Foundation made a second mortgage payment for the Hurst family from the donations you've entrusted to us.

This community has now raised more than $62,000 toward our $75,000 goal.

Casey and Racheal asked us to tell all of you thank you—for every donation, every prayer, every message, every share, and every person who has continued standing beside their family.

Their journey isn't over because the major surgeries are behind them. In many ways, an entirely new chapter is about to begin.

🚒 AN ENCOURAGING UPDATE ON RACHEAL ❤️

We are grateful to be able to share some encouraging news with everyone who has been following Racheal's journey and supporting the Hurst family.

We spoke with Casey, and he shared that Racheal continues to recover remarkably well. In fact, her nurses have been surprised by how quickly she is progressing considering the severity of her injuries and everything her body has been through.

Most of Racheal's major surgeries are now behind her—an important milestone in what we know will still be a long recovery. For now, much of the focus is on giving her body the time it needs to heal and regain strength.

There are still challenges ahead. Racheal is battling pneumonia, and anxiety has made the process of removing her from the ventilator more difficult. Her medical team continues working with her through these challenges, but overall, she continues to move in the right direction.

After so many difficult days and so much uncertainty, we are incredibly thankful to be able to share some positive news.

Casey and the entire Hurst family remain deeply grateful for the tremendous amount of love and support surrounding them. Right now, Casey's focus is exactly where it belongs—beside Racheal and their children. When the time is right, he hopes to personally thank everyone who has stood with his family.

Until then, please continue to pray for Racheal's healing and strength, especially as she works through the challenges with her lungs and breathing.

And please continue to share Racheal's story. Share it with your family, friends, coworkers, church, firehouse, and community. Every person who learns about Racheal's journey helps widen the circle of people standing behind this family.

There is still a long road ahead, but today we are grateful for progress, hopeful for what comes next, and thankful that the Hurst family does not have to walk this road alone.

🚒 Atlanta Professional Fire Foundation Update

We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported the Hurst family over the past week.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we've now raised more than $52,500 toward our $75,000 goal. Because of your donations, we were able to make our first disbursement and pay Casey and Racheal's August mortgage, allowing them to focus on what matters most—Racheal's recovery and their family.

We are also encouraged to share that Racheal continues to trend in the right direction. While we are respecting the Hurst family's privacy during this critical time, we will share additional updates as soon as they are ready.

To everyone who has donated, prayed, shared words of encouragement, or supported this family in any way—thank you. Your kindness has provided more than financial support; it has reminded the Hurst family that they are surrounded by an incredible community that genuinely cares.

Our hearts are broken for the Hurst family.

On the night of July 25, our dear friend Racheal Hurst was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident that has forever changed her life.

Racheal is currently receiving critical care and fighting through unimaginable injuries. She is facing multiple surgeries and a long, difficult road to recovery.

Racheal is an incredible wife, mother, daughter, and friend. Her husband, Casey, proudly serves our community as a City of Atlanta firefighter, and right now his only focus is being by Racheal's side while caring for their two amazing children, Reagan (11) and Ford (5).

As firefighters, we are family. When one of us is hurting, we come together. Today, we're asking our community to do the same.

We've created a GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden of medical expenses, rehabilitation, childcare, everyday living costs, and the future prosthetic Racheal will need as she begins rebuilding her life.
