Liam Stuart scored the winning goal for Atlanta United FC ’s Unified team on Saturday.
It was epic.
Tied up 1-1 with the Philadelphia Union in the 2nd half, Liam surprised the Philly defense and goalie by turning on a dime and firing off a shot into the lower left corner of the net.
With his off-foot no less!
Liam’s scoring effort was done so stealthily that the camera wasn’t even aware until right before he kicked.
The announcers immediately say “𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘵! 𝘏𝘦’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦!”
And then as he celebrated the announcers continued, “𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘓𝘪𝘢𝘮. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭. 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴, 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘧𝘧. 𝘏𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺.”
Liam has been playing with Atlanta United’s unified team as a striker for several years. He’s a grade A example of team player. He’s always doing the little things to set his teammates up for success.
This weekend was the third goal of his 6 year career with Atlanta United’s Unified Team.
His individual effort to not give up on the play was notable. And ultimately the difference in the game.
What stood out even more to me was the enthusiasm of his celebration and how he rushed to include his teammates and coaches.
Liam is passionate and high-effort. We get to see it every day in the Ventures ATL office.
The determination he brings to our client’s AI projects and finance business processes is the same determination he brings to the pitch.
We celebrated with #19 (Liam’s number) balloons in the office today.
Congratulations Liam. We’re so happy for you! ⚽ 🔥 👏
