Join us on LUMUMBA DAY (Jan. 17) as we commemorate Patrice Lumumba on the 60th anniversary of his assassination.

The centrality, size & wealth of the Congo along with Lumumba's own integrity, fortitude, and frankness helped make him one of the most influential leaders in modern history. The tiny Belgian state relied almost exclusively on vast Congolese resources for their global influence. Lumumba's vision could have united Africa & ended Belgium.

Join us tomorrow on the last (official) day of as we celebrate the contributions of three extraordinary groups and individuals to Congolese liberation. Among our many honorable guests, we are honored and super excited to host and recognize Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege, whose work in repairing the physical and emotional damages done against women in the Eastern DRC truly speaks for itself. He has also been an instrumental voice in amplifying awareness of conflict in the DRC, most notably as of late by backing the UN Mapping Report.

Were also recognizing two local Atlanta organizations, and CoComATL for their outstanding solidarity with Congolese and generally African people. We can't wait to celebrate with you all.

In the Heart...

Our story truly begins at the heart of the people. We organize, we protest, we fight for those who cannot. Although there is injustice and so much pain there is also beauty beyond the trees. Deep in the Congo there is love. A country robbed and a people forgotten. Friends of the Congo are true friends indeed. Our efforts here in Atlanta ring far beyond Georgia’s state lines and well across the Atlantic Ocean. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the DRC.
