El currently works in the airline business but continues to serve his comm

unity on many different levels. His favorite sport is golf and he is a true Atlanta Falcon fan. Erica Jong, Co- Founder
Erica was born and raised in New York City, and started volunteering at the age of 13, when she was deeply moved by playing with AIDS inflicted children at a local pediatric ward. Ever since, she has been active in community based and family service programs with which she led numerous fundraisers, baked countless brownies, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, and ultimately received a Master of Social Work degree so she could work with young adults in public schools. Erica is also an avid traveler, crafter and full-time mother of 2. She hopes they, too, can grow up in an environment where they can share, learn, be creative and be thoughtful to the communities surrounding them. Hop Skip & Serve
El and Erica started working together on parent volunteer projects at the school their children attended, and quickly formed a friendship based on their shared respect for community service. By volunteering together, they quickly learned that the other also had a strong interest in introducing not only their own kids, but community youth in general, to the benefits of life through service. Over numerous cups of coffee and bowls of ice cream, Hop Skip & Serve was created to help introduce young children to a lifestyle of service through age-appropriate volunteer opportunities. William Teasley, The Third Wheel
Born in Tuskegee, Alabama, William was raised by his grandparents to leave things better than he found it and believe in Dr. King's Beloved Community. Active in many different capacities across Metro Atlanta,

Dear family volunteers,

We are sad to share that we will not be hosting our annual MLK sandwich making event as we could not secure a venue.

Please check this page as we are trying to compile volunteer opportunities and activities for this upcoming day of service.

Let’s continue to support our neighbors in need ❤️

Happy Sunday Hop Skip & Serve volunteers!

Hope you are all staying warm and enjoying the little bits of snow in the Atlanta area :)

Tomorrow is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and we regret to share that we will not be hosting our annual community service event. Due to the current state of covid and the low temps, we believe it would not be safe to gather at this time. We miss the energy of our gatherings with the excitement of our youth volunteers, but as soon as it is feasible, we will coordinate something great!

Keep serving and supporting your neighbors in need and hope you carve out time tomorrow to honor Dr. King and do a little something special to help someone out.

Here are some suggestions if you and your family and group of friends would like to try something different:

www.free99fridge.com
A program of fridges and pantries in various locations in the Atlanta area where neighbors in need can shop for free. Community members stock the fridges with produce, dairy, sandwiches, home cooked packaged meals, etc. Pantries take dry goods, toiletries, baby food, hygiene products. *If you prepare something at home, please list ingredients and it must have the date for health safety reason, otherwise it will be tossed.
We bring food to the fridge located outside of Hodge Podge twice a week, it needs stocking throughout the day every day.

Blessing Bags of Warmth
https://www.blessingbagsofwarmth.com/
A local Mother Daughter team supports our unhoused neighbors in need with food, blankets, backpacks stocked with hygiene products, and occasionally will help locate emergency shelter/housing. They maintain an Amazon wishlist and accept monetary donations.

Stay warm, safe, and keep volunteering!

Youth volunteers: Election Night Support!!!

Join us- young volunteers and parents will go to polling stations to pass out snacks to voters in line after 5PM.

Volunteers will be supplying their own snacks, which can be purchased in bulk at all grocery stores and markets. *we will help supply groups with snacks if you cannot

We also encourage bluetooth speakers to play music, sing, dance, tell jokes, recite slam poetry.... and help keep voters spirits up as they wait. So if you love to entertain a crowd, now’s your chance!

Masks & gloves are required.

Email us your time availability and if you want to volunteer with another family. If you cannot purchase snacks, just let us know and we will do what we can to supply you with some.
