Erica was born and raised in New York City, and started volunteering at the age of 13, when she was deeply moved by playing with AIDS inflicted children at a local pediatric ward. Ever since, she has been active in community based and family service programs with which she led numerous fundraisers, baked countless brownies, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, and ultimately received a Master of Social Work degree so she could work with young adults in public schools. Erica is also an avid traveler, crafter and full-time mother of 2. She hopes they, too, can grow up in an environment where they can share, learn, be creative and be thoughtful to the communities surrounding them. Hop Skip & Serve
El and Erica started working together on parent volunteer projects at the school their children attended, and quickly formed a friendship based on their shared respect for community service. By volunteering together, they quickly learned that the other also had a strong interest in introducing not only their own kids, but community youth in general, to the benefits of life through service. Over numerous cups of coffee and bowls of ice cream, Hop Skip & Serve was created to help introduce young children to a lifestyle of service through age-appropriate volunteer opportunities.
