1) Use your athletic background to your advantage

If you played college sports it may have been tough to gain relevant work/internship experience while you were in school so it’s important to leverage your experience as an athlete in your applications/interviews. Traits like being disciplined, hard working, and competitive can take a you a long way in your professional career.

2) Don’t stop training

Just because you don’t play a sport anymore, doesn’t mean you can’t still train like you do. If you’re able to stay in peak physical shape, you’ll continue to feel good and be healthy even though you’re working at a desk all day.

3) Treat your career like your sport

Whether you’re an entrepreneur or working a 9-5, the only way to progress is to apply the same habits you learned as an athlete, to your work. First one in last one out, getting reps in after practice, etc.

4) Keep going

If you were an athlete, then you definitely had plenty of ups and downs along the way. I know I did. You’ll experience the same thing in your career. No matter what you’re pursuing, the person who continues to put the work in and doesn’t give up, will always win in the end.

That moment when the game stops… and everything gets quiet.
As Gilbert Arenas shares, the struggle is real. No schedule. No locker room. No one telling you where to be or what’s next. And for many athletes, that silence can turn into isolation… even depression.

At THE LAB (Life After Ball), we understand that transition isn’t just physical—it’s mental, emotional, and deeply personal.
You trained your whole life for the game.

We’re here to help you train for what comes after it.

Life after sports is scary…” — and for so many athletes, that’s the part no one prepares you for.
When the game ends, the routine shifts, the spotlight fades, and you’re left figuring out who you are beyond the jersey. It’s not just about finding a new path—it’s about redefining your identity, building new skills, and learning how to win in a completely different arena.

At THE LAB, we understand that transition. We’re here to help athletes navigate life after the game with purpose, confidence, and the tools they need to succeed beyond sports.
Because your greatness doesn’t end when the game does—it evolves.

04/10/2026

Some people only see the highlights… the wins, the lights, the crowd.
But what they don’t see is what happens after the game is over.
When the routine is gone.
When the identity shifts.
When you realize the skills that made you great on the field don’t always translate off of it… yet.
That transition is real. And it’s hard.

That’s why we built The LAB.
We’re here to make sure athletes are not just prepared for the game…
but for life after the game.
From career development to mindset to real-world skills, we’re helping athletes build a future that’s just as strong as their past.
Because your story doesn’t end when the season does…
it just begins.

From training, grinding, pushing your body to the limit…
to sitting alone with a bowl of cereal.

No one talks about that part.
The silence.
The loneliness.
The moment when the game is over—and you’re left trying to figure out who you are without it.
Coaches teach you how to grind.
But no one teaches you how to let go.

No one prepares you for the loss of identity that can come after the game.

That’s where THE LAB comes in.
We’re here for the transition.
We’re here for the real conversations.

We’re here to help you rebuild, rediscover, and redefine who you are beyond the sport.

Because life after the game… still matters.

When the game ends… who are you?

For so many athletes, identity is tied to the sport. The routine, the competition, the recognition—it becomes everything. And when it’s gone, it can feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself.

That’s why so many athletes struggle with depression after they stop playing.

At THE LAB, we understand that transition. We created this space to help athletes rediscover who they are beyond the game—building confidence, purpose, and a new path forward.

You are more than your sport. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Reach out. We’re here to help.

There are two types of athletes…
The ones who are hungry and the ones who just want to eat.
One is driven by purpose, growth, and discipline.

The other is chasing the moment.

At THE LAB, we’re here for both.
Because eventually, the game ends for everyone—and what matters most is who you are when it does. We provide the community, the support, and the tools to help you transition, build character, and win in life after the game.

It’s bigger than the sport. It’s about the person you become.

Huge thank you to for opening up your doors and hosting our mixer! 🙌🏾

The energy in the room was unmatched—real conversations, genuine connections, and a community coming together with purpose. This is exactly what THE LAB is all about… building bridges, creating opportunities, and supporting one another beyond the game.

We appreciate everyone who showed up, poured into the space, and made the night what it was. More to come… we’re just getting started. 💪🏾

3 Levels of Student-Athletes.

Not talent levels.
Not highlight levels.
Habit levels.

Coaches don’t just see your film.
They see your discipline.
They see your GPA.
They see how you manage your time when nobody is watching.

The 2.5 student-athlete buries opportunity with excuses.
The 3.3 student-athlete does enough to stay eligible.
The 4.0 student-athlete builds daily systems that make them recruitable.

This isn’t just about basketball.
Or baseball.
Or football.

It’s about standards.

Phone habits.
Study habits.
Weight room habits.
Consistency.

Every sport rewards discipline. Every coach recruits reliability.

Work Ethic isn’t a slogan — it’s a separator.

Which level are you building toward?
