Last Monday, Atlanta honored Councilmember Howard Shook for his exceptional career and well-deserved retirement. Known for his civic leadership and commitment to Buckhead and the city, he earned the respect of constituents and colleagues alike. The Buckhead Coalition is grateful for years of collaboration and wishes him the best in his next chapter.

During the celebration, Buckhead Coalition and Buckhead Community Improvement District (CID) President & CEO Jim Durrett announced that the Wieuca Road roundabout will be named in his honor, recognizing his pivotal role in forging partnership between the City of Atlanta and the Buckhead CID.

On Tuesday, Coalition members participated in a walking tour and presentation hosted by Heart of South Downtown and Atlanta Tech Village. Together, we explored the community’s pressing needs around health, housing, and homelessness, and engaged in discussions about the ongoing revitalizations efforts and development of an important historic community of Atlanta. These conversations are vital as we work to shape a more vibrant, safe and connected city.

On Wednesday, the Buckhead Coalition partnered with Peachtree Road United Methodist Church to support Buckhead’s unsheltered community. Coalition members volunteered their time to serve lunches and share in meaningful fellowship with the guests. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside the dedicated team at Buckhead Cares, whose ongoing service continues to uplift and strengthen the Buckhead community.
