We are thrilled to continue working with the Global Village Project, a valued partner that is creating life-changing educational opportunities for newcomer and refugee girls in our community.

Earlier this year, AAAGA hosted an information session and helped families complete applications for enrollment. As the process moved forward, our team continued supporting families by providing interpretation during interviews and helping parents navigate each step with confidence.

For many newcomer families, language barriers can make school enrollment and interviews feel overwhelming. By offering interpretation and guidance, we help ensure that families can fully participate in the process and access opportunities for their children.

We are proud to stand alongside the Global Village Project in supporting refugee and immigrant girls as they pursue their education and build bright futures. Partnerships like these make a meaningful difference in the lives of families and strengthen our entire community.

Thank you to the Global Village Project () for your continued partnership and commitment to empowering young girls through education.

Join us in celebrating World Refugee Day on June 20 as we honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of refugee communities from around the world.

AAAGA is proud to be part of CRSA and to stand alongside larger advocacy networks supporting Afghans and other refugee communities across Georgia and nationally. Together, we continue working toward dignity, opportunity, and a stronger future for all displaced families.

We warmly invite community members to join us as vendors, performers, or volunteers and be part of this meaningful celebration of culture, unity, and belonging.

And if you simply want to come and enjoy the day, you are absolutely welcome to attend, bring your family and friends for a day full of performances, local vendors, community connection, and celebration.

At AAAGA, our team is here and ready to support Afghan families as they navigate day to day life in Georgia. Since 2021, Afghan American Alliance of Georgia has been providing direct support services while also creating programs that help community members build long term stability, confidence, and self sufficiency.

We believe that teaching and empowering people is important, but we also understand that immediate support matters too. Sometimes families simply need a place where they feel understood, respected, welcomed, and able to ask for help in their own language. A place that feels familiar and safe while rebuilding life in a new country. That is why our walk in services exist.

Our bilingual case managers provide support in Dari, Pashto, and English so community members can comfortably receive assistance from people who understand their experiences and challenges.

Here is how we can help:
• SNAP, CAPS, WIC, TANF, Medicaid applications, renewals, and Georgia Gateway account management
• ESL and school enrollment
• Job search and resume building
• Healthcare appointments and interpretation
• Support with DMV permits, licenses, and Georgia IDs
• Connecting families with mentors and volunteers
• Referrals to partner organizations

At AAAGA, this is not just a statement; it’s the work we do every single day.

From successfully advocating for Dari and Pashto language access at DMV locations, to empowering Afghan parents to ensure halal meal options in Gwinnett County Public Schools, our community is creating real, lasting change.

Our team stands shoulder-to-shoulder with clients in some of their most critical moments, whether it’s at healthcare appointments, court hearings, or parent-teacher meetings, ensuring language is never a barrier to dignity, access, or opportunity.

This work matters because representation matters. Access matters. Being heard matters.

And every step forward, no matter how small, moves us closer to systems that truly serve everyone.

Our team recently participated in the SPARK Lunch & Learn, a training focused on responsive parenting and early childhood development.

As a service provider working closely with families each day, ongoing learning is essential to strengthening how we support those we serve. This session offered practical strategies to better recognize early developmental needs, engage effectively with parents, and connect families to appropriate resources.

Beyond building knowledge, the session created space for reflection on our approach and how we can continue to show up thoughtfully and effectively in our work.

We are grateful for opportunities like this that support our team’s growth and enhance our ability to serve the community with care and intention. Thank you to SPARK for hosting this session and for including our team.

Thank you to Ahmad Wali Rostami and Siamoy Ehsany for coordinating and bringing this session together so thoughtfully.

Proud of our team for their continued commitment to learning and to strengthening support for families in our community.

Afra Bloom is now on Etsy ✨

We’re so proud to share that Afra Bloom, founded by Diba Ahadi Hamdil, is now officially on Etsy!

Diba has been an amazing participant in our Sew-Zan program, and it’s been inspiring to watch her grow her small business with so much dedication, creativity, and care.

Through Afra Bloom, she creates beautiful handmade pieces using resin and real pressed flowers. Each piece is thoughtfully made and one of a kind.

Her products make such meaningful gifts (perfect timing with Mother’s Day coming up ), and she also takes custom orders. You can choose your own flowers, designs, and create something truly personal.

Shop her work on Etsy: Afra Bloom
Or reach out directly on Instagram:

She’ll be adding more products and listings as she continues creating, so keep an eye on her shop
We’ll also share her Etsy link in our stories so don’t miss it

Supporting Afra Bloom is more than just a purchase, it’s supporting creativity, resilience, handmade craft, and a woman who believes in herself and creates with purpose.

AAAGA is proud to partner with the IRC Mental Health & Wellness team to host an 8-session mental health program for our community.

Each weekly session creates a welcoming and supportive space for participants to learn, reflect, and connect. All workshops and materials are offered in Dari, so participants can fully understand and engage with every topic.

Throughout the program, we’re covering important topics including:
mental health & counseling, grief, stress management & coping skills, the five factors of wellness, safety in the community, healthy relationships & communication (including with children), depression & anxiety, domestic violence, su***de prevention, bullying, and Trauma 101.

Each topic includes a pre- and post-test to help participants reflect on their understanding and see their progress over time.

For the first time, these sessions are bringing men and women together in one space. This creates an environment where participants can learn from one another, share their perspectives, and build a deeper, more meaningful understanding of these topics as a community. It’s a space designed to support them where they can ask questions, have real conversations, and, if needed, receive additional support from the IRC Mental Health team.

Participants can also enjoy tea and pastries during the sessions, making the space feel even more welcoming and comfortable while learning together.

The purpose of this program is raising awareness but at the same time, it’s more than that. It’s about wellness, connection, supporting one another, understanding these topics as a community, and learning from each other.

Thank you to the IRC Mental Health & Wellness team () for such a meaningful partnership. These sessions are truly needed, and we’re grateful to continue this collaboration.

Stay tuned for more updates!.
