Not every family can host a teenager for several weeks. And that is completely okay.

But the U4U Kids program exists not only because of host families.
Behind every trip there is a large community of people who make this journey possible.

This year we are planning to host children in the following states:
📍Sacramento, CA
📍Seattle, WA
📍Columbus, OH
📍Spartanburg, SC
📍North Port / Sarasota, FL

That’s why support from people who live in these regions is especially valuable — families, volunteers, churches, business owners, and simply people who care.

There are many ways to become part of this journey.

🤍 Support through a donation

Your contribution helps cover the cost of a child’s participation in the program when a host family cannot fully cover the expenses.

Sometimes a single donation becomes the reason a child finally gets the chance to come.

🤝 Support from businesses and companies

Companies and entrepreneurs help cover certain program expenses, support events, or become partners in the trips.

In this way, business involvement turns into real change in the lives of specific children.

🙏 Prayer and sharing information

A repost, sharing the project at church, or recommending it to friends often leads to a new host family or the support that is needed.

🌿 Volunteering

Volunteers help at different stages of the program: welcoming children, supporting events, and helping organize the trip.

We regularly need photographers and videographers to capture the children’s arrival at the airport, excursions, and camp activities, as well as helpers in the kitchen during the camp week.

It may seem like simple help, but it creates an atmosphere of care that stays in the children’s memories for a long time.

U4U Kids is not the work of just a few people.
It is a community where everyone can contribute their part of care.

And very often, a small contribution from one person becomes the beginning of healing for a child.

This is a story from a family who hosted a child through the U4UKids program for the very first time.

Before joining, most families have many questions:

What will it actually look like?
Will we be able to handle it?
Is this right for our family?

And that’s completely natural.

But very often, the real experience turns out to be much easier than it seems at first.
The child simply becomes part of your everyday life for a few weeks — sharing dinners, conversations, outings, and simple daily moments 🤍

Who is a good fit to become a host family for U4UKids?

Sometimes it may seem that only «special» people can become host families.
But in reality, it’s much simpler than that.

Being a host family is not about being perfect.
It’s about being present.

✔️ Hosting may be a good fit for you if:

— you can host a teenager (ages 13–16) for 3 weeks and provide them with personal space
— you are willing to include the child in your family’s normal daily life, without feeling the need to constantly entertain them
— you understand that the child may need time to adjust and open up
— you can calmly respond to moments of sadness, tiredness, or homesickness
— you can provide simple daily care: meals, transportation to program activities, and inclusion in family life
— you are willing to simply be there, without trying to replace the child’s parents

✔️ And it is NOT necessary to:

— have a large house
— take time off work for the entire program
— be a psychologist or teacher
— speak Ukrainian or Russian

For a child, the most important thing is to spend a few weeks in a peaceful family environment where they can simply be a teenager.

This is the story of one child in the U4Ukids program.

Teenagers from Ukraine, whose families have been affected by the war, come to the United States for three weeks — to spend time without air raid sirens, living with host families who welcome them as part of their everyday lives.

The program includes:
— living with host families
— excursions and new experiences
— a week at camp with connection and support

After the program, the children return home to Ukraine, to their families.
But the relationships formed during these weeks often last.

We are currently preparing the next groups of children, and the program needs host families in:

U4UKids (Uniting for Ukrainian Kids) 🇺🇸🇺🇦 is a three-week recovery program for Ukrainian teenagers affected by war—children who have lost their fathers and live in constant trauma, loss, and fear.

The project connects children with caring host families in the United States, giving them not just a trip, but an experience of safe relationships, support, and normal life—without sirens, alarms, or nighttime awakenings from fear.

U4U Kids grew out of many years of serving orphaned children, supporting adoptions, and working closely with families.
It is a journey of careful guidance—from preparation and visas to living with host families, camp programs, excursions, and continued support after returning to Ukraine.

We believe that healing begins when a child feels safe and accepted—
when there are adults nearby who listen, care, and truly see them.

Why we are already preparing the next U4Ukids groups 👇

Recovery does not happen at the click of a button.
And it does not begin the moment a child boards a plane.

For children living with loss, fear, and constant stress, recovery is a process — not an event.

That is why we begin preparing the next groups long before the trip itself.

Preparation is not just logistics.
It includes working with documents, visas, and travel routes.
It involves forming a group of children aged 13–16 whose stories require special care.
It means finding and preparing host families who are ready not to “rescue,” but simply to be present.

It is time spent building trust —
between teams in the United States and Ukraine, between churches, chaperones, families, and children.

When a child arrives in the program, they are no longer entering the unknown.
They are entering a space that has been intentionally prepared for them in advance.

We also know that the impact of the program does not end when the child returns home.
The relationships formed during these few weeks continue —
through messages, phone calls, prayers, and support across distance.

That is why the next groups are not a «new wave».
They are a continuation of a journey that began earlier and continues forward.

because recovery takes time, commitment, and people
who are willing to consciously step into this process.

A host family is not about ideal conditions or special skills.
It’s about a normal life, where a child can feel safe for the first time in a long while.

It’s a morning without anxiety or waiting for bad news.
It’s an evening when you can simply sit at the table together, share your day, and feel heard.
It’s having adults around who genuinely want to be there for you.

For a child experiencing war, such moments are incredibly important.
They restore a sense of stability and trust in the world.

In a host family, a child stops living in survival mode.
They become a teenager again — with feelings, questions, interests, and hope for the future.

We believe that healing begins when a child feels safe and accepted.
